How long is recovery time for TAH?

My doctor told me I could go back to my job at 4 weeks and I did b/c I wanted to and it was financially necessary. My job is not physical - - mostly computer work at a desk and some walking around a one-story building, no stairs - -and it's part-time. I have a part-time desk job in the mornings, so I guess that adds up to full-time.

I felt good going back, but have had some bad days. Yesterday, I did too much - - bending, getting record books out of a lower cabinet, checking computer software functioning by mousing and using the keyboards from a (bent) standing position in a classroom of 24 computers *ouch* and guess what? I spent most of today on the couch! I hurt and my abdomen is swollen like a ripe watermelon!

And just think: this is what can happen on a NON-physical desk job!!

I enjoy my work, but if I could have taken off more time, I would have. I'm barely managing to meet the bills as it is, and thank God I don't have a more strenuous job(s) or less understanding bosses.

I promise to take it real easy this weekend, Pillow Police

So whenever you do go back, you may want to learn to sort of squat down to reach things - - do a deep-knee bend instead of bending from the waist - - it will be much better for you. And stay off work for as long as you can. Also I've found that there's a big, BIG difference between picking up something once or twice, and picking up that something 20-30 times. Just because you can make a move easily once doesn't mean you can do it all day long (said the woman who had no trouble bending down to re-boot the first computer - - but by computer #24, she was saying "owie")
