Welcome Home

Betty, Gee glad that the surgery went well and that your recovery is going smoothly. Remember even though you are feeling great to still rest as when feeling really well can lead you to doing abit too much.
You are so right about the waiting being the hardest part. All you LIW out there it is sooo true. Keep up the good work Betty and welcome to the other side. Hugs Vicki

Bettywetty, I'm doing GREAT!!!

I know what you mean about the pain being there and then POOF! it was gone!! The right side of my incision was real painful and I kept alternating ice packs and heating pad. When I finally had to get out of "my chair" there was pain but just a fraction of what I had earlier!!! My infection is gone!!! I go to the on Tuesday 2-19. Can't wait to get my walking papers!!!! By the way, when does the bleeding usually stop? I'm really glad you are doing so well!!!

Just got back from the castle today...

HI Betty and AMallory,

I just wanted to pop in here and say I am so glad to hear that you all are doing so well!

Remember to still pamper yourselves for quite a while longer. It is fine to add in normal activities, and it will sure be a great feeling to be discharged by your doctors .......... but (you just knew that "but" was coming didn't you?) .......

Pay close attention to the lifting restrictions when your doctor discharges you. My doctor restricted me to 10 pounds up to 12 weeks, and then 20 pounds for 18 months. Also, take it easy when you start pushing and pulling. Vacuuming is the absolute last thing to add back into your regular routine.

You may have swelly belly on and off for several months when you stand on your feet for long periods of time. Your discharge should be lessening and stopping pretty soon. If you are concerned about it, check back with your doctor.

Remember to always call your doctor if you run fever, have new pain, or bright red bleeding.

Sounds like you both are well on your way!! Drop back by and let us know how you are doing every now and then!

Very best wishes,

Blessings and s
