two for one surgery

Help I'm to have a burch for stress incontinince and tah and bso for abnormal bleeding and pain. I tried many kinds of birth control and then horm. replacement for the bleeding and clot and all they do is make me with mood changes no want to live with me I even one day told my two Pastors off. I went to the doctor because I was bleeding for 21 days with pain and clots So she said the only to do was a hyst at this point and I also was seeing a ureogyn for stress incont. SO I ask to have both surg at the same time. My surg day is March 19. I JUST have to get the insurance to look over the case. (I know that is can hard esp my husband insurnace co) My question is has any one had both surg? How did you do? Any words of wisdom will help even if you had only one of the surg. Any one how to handle insurance co.?]

two for one surgery

Hi Malia

I had a TAH/Burch at the same time. I too was concerned about the insurance not covering the burch repair, and I did not want to have to have a seperate surgery at a later date. A girl at work (same insurance as mine) had a TAH, but they would not approve her burch repair (she was in her mid 30's). I was 40.

I asked the girl at the dr's office about it and she said the insurance company just asked for some additional information on the burch and then approved it.

As far as recovery from it, I 'm not sure what is hyst recovery and burch recovery. All i know is that I had no bladder problems at all. So, I think most of post op discomfort was due to the hyst.

Best of luck to you. Email if you have any more questions.
