Tips for the hospital from me to you.

I just had my TLH, BSO, A-P repair yesterday. Some things I did to help make my life easier at the hospital are:

I got a fanny pack (I wouldn't be caught dead wearing one but...) I hooked it to the side rail of my hospital bed. In it I put things I would want but didn't want to have to look for when it wouldn't be easy for me to move. Chap stick (a necessity), my case for and my glasses, phone and charger, some hard candy to suck on (when allowed). Then, what I found worked well was to leave it unzipped. I put the push button in it on top so I didn't have to look through my bed when I needed my pain pump to work.

I brought mini 3-Musketeers bars and M&Ms in a pretty plastic candy dish for the nurses and anyone else that came in to help me.

I brought two small pillows from home. The one I got from the HysterSisters store with the Pamper the Princess tote bag. I used this one on my tummy when needed. The other is a butterfly shaped pillow I put behind my shoulder.

Years ago when I had a diagnostic lap done one of the nurses told me that it would help the shoulder pain to raise my arm up over my head and rest it on the bed. That helped the shoulder pain a lot back then so, I did it again this time.

I asked anesthesia if I could get a motion sickness patch before surgery to help prevent nausea and vomiting after. They put on one for me and NO nausea or vomiting.

Well, that's a few things that helped me. Maybe it will help some of you too. Best of luck! See you on the other side.
