Re: HRT and blood clots

I had menopausal symptoms for 6 years before my surgery. Some say menopause can last around ten years. Yuck!

Everyone needs to research, read and learn, question their drs and make their decisions/choices based on real info.
My DVT episode was so scary that even if the dr. told me he found the perfect HRT for me I wouldn't take it. I'd rather live with hot flashes than die of a blood clot. My years without HRT haven't been that bad. There's always Effexor or some other SSRI that can help ease the symptoms of menopause.

I agree with you 100%. My older sister had breast cancer and was taking Tamoxifen. 2 days after my surgery, she had a 10 minute episode where she tried talking but could not. This was a small stroke. They have stopped her tamoxifen. She said this scared her more than her breast cancer diagnosis.

Re: HRT and blood clots

Just a note- the latest reports from NAMs show evidence that transdermal estrogen is safe for women with DVT.

Research and talk to your doc about your particular health needs

Re: HRT and blood clots

I saw my new general practitioner who is an internist. She does not think the tingling numbness and mild pain in my right arm is due to a blood clot. She thinks I have carpel tunnel and is sending me to have a nerve study done. She also wants me to wear an arm sling at night I think. Never did an xray. But seemed pretty confident.
