I am a basket case ! HELP

Hello again ! As most of you know (from previous posts) I am scheduled for a TAH/BSO on February 11th - and I am getting a lil more nervouse than I expected. I have been going crazy thinking of all the things that will be done and reading everything I can get my hands on - which helps. However, due to my prolonged problems now I have a fear of what my doctor may find when he gets in there. I have had problems for approx 6 years (began after a tubal). I am not my ideal weight but my stomach is always bloated and hard to the touch in most places (not all fat). I am scared I may have more problems internally than either of us knows about.

Is this normal? Any suggestions on how to help this time pass faster? I have nested til I can nest no more --- and have no patience for hardly anything else......HELP ! I am a basket case!
Thanks for all your wonderful words of encouragement. If I hadn't found this site I would be even worse off I am sure!

Good luck to all you LIW -- wishing you a speedy recovery!

Angie

I am a basket case ! HELP

Your fears are getting the best of you...and that's perfectly normal! Our imaginations run wild at this time....the "what ifs" can make you crazy!!! What if it's this, what if it's that, what if it's bad, what if I'm very ill, what if they can't fix it, what if I dont' wake up.....it's endless.

You are reacting to our very normal fear of the unknown....it's terrifying to speculate on the millions of things that we fear but don't usually allow ourselves to consider.

Please try to remember that this is a part of the experience...most of us have gone through what you are feeling. Try to focus ahead just a little, on when you get home from the hospital. Think about being safe in your own bed, recovering in comfort and safety, maybe looking forward to a favorite book or meal, or watching a TV show or movie...AFTER this is all over.

If you feel your anxiety is getting you too upset, speak to your doctor about getting a mild sedative. I took Xanax before my surgery, and it didn't alter me...just helped take the edge off. You don't have to suffer. And we are here for you 24/7...so keep posting!!!!

HUGS!!

It isn't fun waiting!!!!!

It is absolutely the pits waiting!!!!! I am almost six weeks post-op and all I can say is it is absolutely the worst part and if you can tell yourself that you are going to feel such a relief when it is over, it might eleviate some of your fears. I kept reading everyone's post who said waiting was the worst part, but I thought my anxiety was going to push me over the edge I became a different person pre-op, someone I didn't even know. I cried, starred at the walls, freaked my husband out. (I am the one with the positive attitude and am always laughing) He kept saying "Jacqui are you alright????" Frankly I didn't know. But I am back to my old self again. (well at least mentally) It really was the Lord who got me through. One day while praying I really felt Him say "Why is it that you trust me for all the other areas of your life but not this one?" That day I asked Him if we could start over on this one, and I asked Him to help me. The day before surgery I experienced such a calm and a peace. And Here I AM :jumping: on my way to a full recovery, Just like you will be and will have encouraging words to share with other ladies in waiting. I will say a prayer for you and am sending a great big lots of love Jacqui

same date

dixiekajun & Amanda I,

I am scheduled for Feb 11th also. Do either of you work
outside the home? I work in a factory and have been working
a lot of overtime trying to get some extra $ put back for bills.
I'm not at all nervous, but wondering if I will be in a week or so.
I'm just ready to get it all over with and be on the road to recovery.
Keep in touch and I will for both of you and all our other "sisters" .

I am a basket case ! HELP

Hi, I'm a Feb 11 too.

I don't really feel nervous, but I am finding that all I want to do is eat, and the surgery is ALL that I can think about.

I really wish that my nesting instinct would keep in, because to be perfectly honest, my house is a pit. I work a full time job,and when I get home, so is my energy. All I have the energy to do is eat and read all the posts on this website.

I was just thru this in Sep 00, so it is all to familiar to me, and it really is true that the waiting is the hardest. I just want this over.

So just think ladies.....11 days and counting!!!!!!!!!

Relax

Heather,

Hang in there. Just remember next week at this time
you'll be over the worst of it. Since I finally quit bleeding
I've felt pretty good and had quite a bit of energy. Of course, after working 10 or 12 hours a day at the factory, I don't have a whole lot left when I come home. Thanks to a very wonderful, dh he has been a great help. So has my 19 year old son.
Soon you'll be a and then its time to :
Keep in touch and know that I will for you and all the other LIW.

The waiting truly is the worst - at least it was for me. Just think good thoughts and make sure you have plenty of help lined up for your recovery - and you'll be fine!
