Don't Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow,
Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

~Edgar Guest

I absolutely love this poem! Do you mind if I share it with some of my friends?

Take the first step and we will help you along the way

I don't want to seem like a super woman. I have been taking Wellbutrin 150 mg XL 2 a day for about 3 months prior to this and have been trying to change my thinking as well. So far it's working. I did also kinda replace my smokes for my cup of ice water with a straw.

We will gladly encourage you and help you along the way the best we can.

(((HUGS)))) to all of you.

I am here for you if you need anyone to talk to! I had started smoking when I was 12 years old....I know way too early! I ended up getting pregnant with my first child at 16 and as soon as I took that test and saw positive I put the smokes down and never picked them up again. It can be done with postive thinking and the help of friends. God bless you hun

Re: This changed my life.

Thanks for starting this thread! Quitting smoking is awesome...Congrats! Keep up the good work! My hysterectomy has changed me too! I am so excited to have a pain free and period free rest of my life. I was in pain 20-25 days out of the month with very heavy periods for years that I put up with just because I was afraid to have surgery. I could kick myself now! I am excited about the thought of having tons more energy and not having to plan my activities and travel around my periods!

I know exactly how you feel. I got kicked out of school for missing too many days because during my period I didn't leave the house because it was so heavy and I soaked through pads and clothes. I cannot begin to tell you the amount of clothes I have ruined or the amount of Rx pain meds I had to take while on my period. I am truely glad that I had the surgery but will be even happier when all pain and healing is done.

Re: This changed my life.

Another poem by Edgar Guest:

See it Through
When you're up against a trouble,
Meet it squarely, face to face;
Lift your chin and set your shoulders,
Plant your feet and take a brace.
When it's vain to try to dodge it,
Do the best that you can do;
You may fail, but you may conquer,
See it through!
Black may be the clouds about you
And your future may seem grim,
But don't let your nerve desert you;
Keep yourself in fighting trim.
If the worst is bound to happen,
Spite of all that you can do,
Running from it will not save you,
See it through!

Even hope may seem but futile,
When with troubles you're beset,
But remember you are facing
Just what other men have met.
You may fail, but fall still fighting;
Don't give up, whate'er you do;
Eyes front, head high to the finish.
See it through!
