How long before?

How long do you think I should wait to get a new tattoo? Since this has been such a big milestone in my life my next tattoo is going to be the awareness ribbons for cervical, ovarian, and uterine cancers. I had something wrong with all three of those organs which is why they took them but thank goodness that all the tests were negative. Also, how do you all feel about tattoos? I love them and all of mine have huge meanings to me! My two favorite ones are the bible verse 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 on my back and my children's actually footprints from birth on my left leg! Tattoos are a work of art and in most cases will tell about a person's life! Don't bite my head off if I need to remove this post I will! I was just making conversation!

Re: How long before?

Idk how long u should wait but I think it's a beautiful idea! I too have my children's names tattooed on my ankle- well 1 child I have yet to get my 4 y/o name oops! Life got so busy after 2 kids!!
Anyway, I love tattoos and think they are art as well more so when done tastefully.
The awareness ribbons though would be just beautiful! Good luck!

How long to wait? I don't think it matters. Probably whenever you're feeling up to it! : ) I have five tattoos, all on my chest (I have two swallows, two nautical stars and a diamond in the center). Mine look like lucky charms draping across. I love tattoos! The chest isn't usually the first choice for women, but believe it or not it is easy to hide when I need to (for work, etc.). I love your idea! Maybe I'll get a new one too, it's been a few years.

Re: How long before?

P.S. I like names too, but only if they're blood related people.

I don't have any tattoos ( because I'm chicken) but I really want something small since I had my surgery. I was just talking to my husband about it. This is going to sound wussy but can I use numbing cream?

Also I think you can get one soon as you feel up to it. Good luck!!

Thank you. My fiance is a tattoo artist so my work is done free. I agree with tattoos being art. Tattoos are a wonderful form of art that tells a person's life story most of the time.

I have a butterfly on my left boob but nothing else on my chest, however, I have wanted to get an angel on one side and a devil on the other side like my conscience. I have a bunch more I want and I am working on a sleeve as well. I love tattoos. I am not much for piercings however but I do have my lip and ears pierced.

They actually make a numbing cream called tattoocaine for numbing places. I wouldn't suggest getting one on your foot for the first time. It is the only one that brought tears to my eyes. I would go for your upper arm for your first one or you boob. I had my first done on my boob.

Re: How long before?

This question came up before and I forget the concensus. I'm guessing it might be good to wait a month or two until you're mainly healed. Am I right that teal ribbon can be either ovarian, or all GYN cancers combined? I know peach is uterine but don't know the color for cervical. What colors are you thinking, did you plan 3 ribbons in different colors? I like the idea of GYN ca awareness.

You are right. I was planning 3 ribbons. Peach, teal and white, and teal.....but I might just do one and make it peach, teal, and white.
