What a great birthday present to get. I found out just after my birthday when my surgery was going to be scheduled for and couldn't think of a better present then that, but actually being done with the surgery is a much better present I think

I love coming back to this thread often and reading the recent additions. It makes me feel good and lifts my mood. Thanks for such an upbeat thread.

Re: What are you looking forward to post-op?

Lol! What Clarity said about taking a vacation with the Money saved on feminine products!

Whatever color clothes/undies I want.
Not having to Buy super sized feminine products.
Not Finding feminine products in every bag and pocket I own.
Not having to make sure I have a plastic bag in the car just in case I need to sit on it when Mt V erupts.
Not Bleeding out iron faster than I can absorb it.
Not needing a nap every day.
Being able to plan fun stuff that doesn't require a full bathroom nearby or needing to carry flushable wipes in a ziplock next to all of those feminine products.
Not having to worry about smelling like death because the flow is so heavy.
Not having the chafing since the wetness doesn't really go away in a humid climate.
Being more spontaneous and having fun with the hubby.
Not having to carry something for pain with me everywhere.
Not having iron infusions.
Freedom from Aunt Flo.
Freedom from counting the days.

It's a wonderful life now and will be for all of you too. And yes, I feel sexier then I ever have!
I forgot, I worry about that too! The beaches near me aren't great, but I've turned down lots of trips because of my cycles and shark attack possibilities, LOL! Shhhh, don't tell!

Re: What are you looking forward to post-op?

One more thing I'm looking forward to is NO MORE CLOGGED TOILETS: Those embarrassing times I've clogged up someone's toilet with "crime scene" mess. Especially since it seemed it was always places that don't have a plunger nearby. I always seem to "detox" on the heaviest/crampiest days. So embarrassing.

Re: What are you looking forward to post-op?

So many things:
  • Wearing pretty panties
  • wearing light colored shorts
  • no more tampons or pads
  • no more missing work because of cramps/heavy bleeding
    • no more periods every two weeks that last for 8 days

Re: What are you looking forward to post-op?

My first ski trip last week since my op and I didn't have to pack any feminine products - NOT EVEN A PANTY LINER!!!
A total first for womankind - it was really weird actually and gave me loads of room in my bag for all my new undies that are, yes, in pretty colours!!
The number of times I have skiied in the past and had to keep popping in a loo to check nothing untowards was going on down there and now I am free to ski on past the mountain restaurant!! And as an added bonus I only needed a wee first thing, and maybe a little afternoon stop some days but not the usual wiggling on the chair lift hoping the crowd were going to stop for a drink soon so I could pay a visit.

Someone else said it, but strangely this has all made me feel more feminine, I've been buying much prettier clothes and dressing up a bit more, making more effort - don't ask me why!

Re: What are you looking forward to post-op?

Once that giant fibroid and uterus is removed, I can't wait to:

Not have to pee every 30-60 minutes!
Not have 9-day long periods!
No more painful intercourse!

I am looking forward to no more birth control!! I've suffered terrible side effects from the progestrone-only birth control I take (I cannot take regular estrogen birth control because of a clotting disorder). So this means:

No more drug-induced weight gain!
No more acne from it either!
No more thinning hair!
No more suppressed sex drive!

OMG! I'm so excited to think about having a fun, spontaneous life again!

Re: What are you looking forward to post-op?

I' so glad I started this thread. I prefer to look at the positives when I'm scared about things. (I was scared witless pre-op)

Now on the other side for 11 days, I'm so happy I went through it. I'm feeling better than I have in months.

Looking forward to getting my new bed (once I can do some lifting)
