I made it!

I am home, well, I actually made it home Friday morning from my TAH on Tues. afternoon, was able to keep a portion of one ovary. Hope that lasts for a while. Today is the first day that I could make it to the 'puter. Thanks to everyone. Knowing what to expect made it a whole lot easier!

I made it!

The fibroid was fairly large, at the time I was 16 weeks pregnant but looked much further along. The fibroid began to degenerate when I got pregnant and the doctors think this is what caused the rupture. It is an extremely rare occurence, I did not mean to frighten anyone!

Welcome home...

Dear Susan

So glad to hear you've crossed over safely!!

Ruptured uterus sounds very scary Did your myomectomy fail? I considered this procedure since I had 1 small fibroid in uterine wall and a degenerating one in my uterus. Didn't know what the degenerating one was though until after operation and pathology. Doctor had mentioned cancer as a possibility, which freaked me out. Do you feel like this was a worthwhile step before such a permanent operation?

Take good care of yourself during recovery. I was VERY lazy (Mom helped 1st 2 weeks), and I'm still taking it slow and trying hard to listen to my body. And stay here for support, it has been wonderful for me.

Many s to you during your recovery.

I made it!

Hi Rachel,

No, the myomectomy did not fail but it was not as successful as we had hoped. I chose the myomectomy at 6 months after the rupture to remove several that remained and hopefully allow me to become pregnant. However, there was too much scarring and too many adhesions. Another downside is the fibroids grew back again which is why I finally decided to have the hysterctomy instead of continuing myomectomies. The pathology report on the fibroids removed during the the TAH did show adenomyosis as well.
If I had to do it all again I would have had to hysterectomy instead of the myomectomy.

I am being lazy too! Have a bit of brain fog too.

thanks for the

Thanx...

Susan,

Thanks for all the info. One of the biggest reasons I chose the TAH was to avoid multiple operations--just wanted it over and done with.

Here's to a healthy recovery for all of us
