Re: Side effects

DR said its an allergic reaction, and she's never seen anything like it before. She couldn't believe I kept taking it all weekend . What's weird is its only my face and normally reactions affect whole body. And it's cystic. One cyst you think okay happens, but I have 6 the size of nickels. Not normal. So taking a two week break then starting a different progesterone, lowest dose possible to see how I do with that.

Thanks for your replies today ladies. Without them I probably would have waited until my appt end of next week.

Re: Side effects

Good grief! Glad you're ok! Does she have you taking Benadryl or just stop taking progesterone and wait?

Re: Side effects

Just waiting it out for now. She did tell me to take pain pills. . I may take Benadryl to see if that helps. Figure it couldn't hurt!

Re: Side effects

Glad that's resolved and yes, that's an odd allergic reaction.

Benedryl and advil! Great combo for sleeping..

Re: Side effects

Well, been off progesterone for a week now, and my face is WORSE. It's ridiculous. They have no idea what is causing it, but pretty sure it is hormone related. I finally tried tea tree oil last night, which seems to have helped some. But I can't live like this! I feel like I traded one problem that kept me home bound for another..... I have 21 cysts the size of nickels on my face right now. It isn't only ugly, but painful.

Re: Side effects

maybe it's not the progesterone, but the patches. It can sometimes take a little while to develop an allergy to something. Perhaps it was just coincidence that it happened after you started the progesterone.

Re: Side effects

Thanks for your support ladies.

I had another appt today, and my dr is at a loss. She said it isn't cystic acne in her opinion - not sure what it is. But she doesn't think it's hormone related. Not sure I agree with that. Anyway she gave me a script for topical antibiotic, and is referring me to a dermatologist. Have to wait for insurance approval. So frustrating.

I did venture out today. Had someone ask me what happened to my face. So I won't be doing that again for a while.
