Keeping Cervix???

Hi, I kept my ovaries and had my cervix removed. I have no problems with sex, shortness or moisture. I feel no difference. My doctor told me to think about it due to the fact that I had one abnormal pap, and he felt that why keep it if a problem comes up later. This is a personal choice that only you can make.

Keeping Cervix???

Some surgeons feel that since the cervix is part of the uterus structure, you will have some problems later on if you just remove the uterus. And they believe is no compelling reason to keep the cervix. There are a few people who say they need one for full sexual satisfaction, but they are in the minority. I had my cervix removed by choice and haven't had any problems, and I never have to worry about cervical cancer.

Doctors should respect a patient's wish to keep whatever organs she wishes, and most of them do even if they don't agree with the patient. If you feel that strongly about keeping the cervix go to another doctor who does supracervical hysterectomies.

Keeping Cervix???

I had my cervix removed and a bladder surg. at the same time. I've heard some of the ladies comment that your bladder can fall without the cervix to support it. You might ask your dr. about that. It wasn't a problem with me, since, I had the bladder too. As for as sexual feeling, I haven't noticed a change. I'm not sure where the idea is, if the cervix is gone, no orgasums but it's not true in my case. It was better because I didn't have periods.
Good luck, I know it is a hard decision.
