how big is big?

Palm of my hand, occassionally bigger. Didn't make any sense, didn't think the uterus was that big to start with. If I was using a tampon - bombs away, it was going to dislodge.

Thank heavens I no longer have to deal with that nonsense!

memories

Thank God I won't have them anymore. Sometimes I couldn't get off the bowl because after a clot comes tons of blood. They were so large I could feel them coming down and out. I once drove myself to the hospital because I was so scared. The best part of feeling them move down is I could get to the toilet fast enough before a huge accident accured. Only once at work did I had an accident. I had to run down the hall to the bathroom take off my pants and wash them out. Needless to say my underware couldn't be worn after that. Since I work with so many guys I had to leave work for the day. I am so glad I don't have to do that anymore, I may go out and buy a Pair of white pants. Everyone has different problems, my reasons for clots might not be the same as yours. I am still re-couping from the surgery but I am already excited about NEVER bleeding or clotting again!!!! Good luck to you, I'm sure you will make the right decision.

Large clots?

There have been times for me when 75% of my mensus was clots. They would range from the size of a dime to the size of an orange. I too could feel them coming. I knew they were really big when I would get bowed over in pain as my uterus cramped to realease them. Not cute!

Large clots?

I passed clots that equaled half of a fruit rollup. I was scared silly.
So glad it is all behind me. No more bleeding, pain, confinement to house during bleeding episodes. I'm feeling better than I have in years!!!
I too had trouble with the subjective descriptions used by the doc and his office. " Heavy bleeding" was the one that really gave me the most difficulty.
Good luck to you.

Large clots?

I've had clots for almost as long as I've had a period. I thought everybody had them. Mine aren't much bigger than a silver dollar (the old kind). But, I clot all through my period.

If other people don't clot, what happens to "them" during their period? I honestly thought everybody clotted.

This site has been so helpful to me.

Large clots?

I'm with CJ - until just a few years ago, I thought clots were normal and everybody had them. Probably because my Mom also had large fibroids and told me about the large clots she had. Anyway, mine are often as large as my fist. And, boy, can I relate to your story, Penny. I reached the point where I actually started carrying a clean pair of panties and a simple pair of black slacks in the tote bag I take to work. I usually have enough time to make it to the bathroom before the clot and the ensuing gush happen, but if I happen to be in a meeting or on the phone with a client when it happens, I'm just in big trouble!

I'll be SOOOOO glad to get rid of all this!!

Large clots?

oh boy I dont miss those days ! My clots where anywhere from a size of a half dollar to the palm of my hand. Went through pads like crazy. Periods lasted anywhere from 7-14days. I am so thankful that is in my past. I feel wonderful and look forward to my new life.

I Feel REALLY Dumb Now!

I guess you learn something new everyday! Clots aren't normal? Seriously, I've had them since I was about 12, I thought, until now, that was the way it was supposed to be. I've been a bit concerned about them in recent years because they started getting quite large, most about the size of a lime. None of the many doctors I've been to have ever told me they weren't supposed to be there at all! The doc I have now acted a little disturbed when I told him about them, but never explained why. I guess he figured since I was complaining about them I knew!
Thank you for yet another good piece of information. I've learned more about my problems in the last week on this site than in all the time I've been complaining to my doctors!

Large clots?

I clotted during my first period at age 12, and have been doing so ever since! However, it is usually just the first 2 days when I am at my heaviest bleeding and its never over the size of a grape, although numerous clots!

I think its painful !!!!
