Whew! My ins. will pay

Got the letter today with approval. They also stated that if the hospital would accept the same rate of pay for a 2 person room, they would allow me a private room. I doubt the hospital is going to let me have a private room for the same rate!!! waaaa I want my own rooooooom.

Hey Lady

You are ready to go! The only way I know that the hospital will let you do that is if you are 50 or above you can join senior friends. I did. I am 51 so it was nice I even got my flu shot free this year. Of course I get it free every year through my insurance free. At least you are ready to take that trip to the castle. God Bless and here are and of course they are cyber.

Hi Reba
I am glad to hear that your insurance company is cooperating. I know that has got to be a big load off your mind. It won't be long now.
Take Care

Call your hospital and ask. Mine offered a private room for the same price as a double, and billed it as a double so insurance wouldn't balk. I WAS THRILLED!

Whew! My ins. will pay

Hi Reba!

pssst...... when I got to the castle, I specifically asked for a private room. They quoted me the price difference from what insurance would pay and I agreed to pay it on my own, BUT my surgery was in September and I have yet to see a bill! Even if I do receive a bill one of these days, I'll gladly pay it; to me it was worth it to have a private room.

Hospitals do differ, and also depending on census and availability, regarding private rooms - so do ask. If you want the private room, I think you should have one.

Best wishes, sweetie!

It's very possible you'll get a private room (you'll be glad you did).

Besides availability, it's based on the rate your insurance company pays vs. the room charge of that particular hospital. For example ,if you work for a large national company where costs differ for employees depending on what state they live in, your benefits administrator may negotiate a generous room rate so that employees in high cost states are covered for admissions. If it turns out you live in a lower cost area, the reimbursement for a 2 person room may well cover the cost of your hospital's private room.

I don't know how busy your hospital is, so ask ahead of time rather than waiting for admission day.

Have you asked the hospital how much "extra" you would have to pay for a private room?

My extra charge was only 40.00 a night. To me, it was worth the little out of pocket charge for having a room to myself.

Good Luck!
