What will I need after the surgery???

I am having a VH on Feb 15, 2002 and was just wondering what i might need for after. Also about a bed...I have a futon on the floor should i camp out in the living room or will the futon do ( it is not on a frame only on floor).

What will I need after the surgery???

Hey Trish,
A bed on the floor will be tough for a while. You are not suppose to be bending, so bending down to get on a bed on the floor will be a Getting up will be quite hard to. Find a bed in your house that will be easy to get in and out of, and stick with that. I have a water bed, and I couldn't get in and out of that so I used my DD's daybed, that worked well for me.

What will I need after the surgery???

The most valuable things for me after my surgery:

Tummy pillow
Body pillow
Pillow for underneath my legs while I was sitting
Large floor pillows to prop me up in bed
(I'm big on pillows )
Heating pad
TV tray for magazines, water, remotes, etc.
Grabber thingie for stuff that falls on the floor

A couple things I'm glad I did:

Put all heavy things (cat litter, laundry soap, etc.) into small containers that I could pick up without hurting myself
Put everything I possibly could at a level where I wouldn't have to bend over or reach up (your counters might be cluttered but you'll be glad you did this!)

I agree with Tina that a floor bed would be tricky! I definitely wouldn't have wanted to get up from the floor the first week or two after... actually I wouldn't like doing that *now* and I'm just about 4 weeks post-op.

Best of luck to you!!
