Anyone else feel like a GOOF for their morphine enduced behavior postop?

Geeze, I'm remembering some and being told by others how silly I was in the hospital, mainly the day of the surgery. I feel like a goof. I probably drove the nurses nuts chattering away hehe. My Aunts all called me right after surgery and I guess I was dozing off on some, wouldn't shut up to others and I kept saying "I'm ok." My doctor had told me that the sooner I got moving after surgery, the faster I'd get better, so I had ripped off those leg massager things, pulled the oxygen tube out of my nose, unplugged the iv from the wall and started walking around the room just a couple hours after my surgery and the nurse came in and freaked out. I sort of know how the iv things work and stuff, to get around the room from being there alot with my mom when she got her transplant and later when she got the post transplant lymphoma. I also smoke, I know, shame shame, but after two days there I asked if I could take a walk outside to have a cigarette. Well they had put me on the ob/baby having ward, and this one snippy nurse says "You can't just leave your baby to go have a cigarette." That was her reason for me not to go have one. Wellllllll I WASN'T there having a BABY, which the hospital had asked if it would bother me to be on that floor and no it didn't, I'm done having kids and not upset by it, but the lady was so snotty I sort of made her feel foolish by telling her "I had a hysterectomy, not a BABY." Well anyway, never did get that cigarette........shoulda just quit huh.

you're not a goof

LisaJean,

you're not a goof. just a bit loopy from the drug.

i had a couple gal friends visit me after my second surgery and they said they could tell everytime i gave myself a dose of morphine from my PCA! hahaha guess i was a bit loopy too.

wanna hear something real stupid? when i was in the ER 2 weeks after my hyst. the nurse said i needed to give them a urine sample. when i asked why they needed it, she said to test for pregnancy..... "HELLO... I JUST HAD A HYSTERECTOMY 2 WEEKS AGO!!!" i don't think they read my chart. then again, all the problems i had in that hospital, it didn't surprise us. (DH and me)

:smokin: smoke 'em if you got 'em.

take care
