It's almost that time . . .

Hey everybody, I have about a week and a half left. What kinds of things should I do at home other than clean up the house, do laundry and cook a few meals?

Also, what kinds of things should I take to the hospital? I'm assuming that this will not be a "glamour" occassion so I probably shouldn't take any cute nite gowns. But, what should I take to wear? I've never had a "planned" hospitalization. All my "visits" have been under emergency circumstances.

Help me out ladies!

It's almost that time . . .

Hi CJ!

I would recommend some probably need it about now. I also visited the HS Chat room regularly before my surgery. It is a great place for some real time support and fun. Maybe have a massage, or get your hair done...I did....I figured it might be a while before I got out of the house post surgery and didn't want to feel yukky because of bad hair . As far as nightgowns....I wore my HS cover up. It is an oversized t shirt that came to the knees. This seemed to work the best. It was easy to get in and out of bed and didn't get all tangled up. I wouldn't recommend jammies with bottoms, simply because you may have a catheter and bottoms just make that a little more cumbersome. Here is a link to a list of other items you may want to take with you to the castle. The only things I would add here is maybe some music? I brought my Discman with some relaxation CD's and also a heating pad. I had very uncomfortable back aches for a couple of weeks, starting right away and the heating pad was a huge help. All the best to you!

Almost Time

I had a manicure and pedicure the day before surgery and got my hair cut. Also, the day before surgery eat at your favorite restaurant and take a long bubble bath. Those are things I could not do for several weeks and really missed!

I also took a walkman to the hospital so I could listen to relaxing music. I ended up in the pediatric wing due to overcrowding and the rooms did not have clocks. I had no sense of time and my DH had to bring a clock so don't assume you will have one like I did.
I also took a photo of my DH and daughter with me to brighten up the room!

God Bless!
