Hello Stephi!

Hi Stephi,

I'm alittle older than you, but not much! I'm 26 years old and I'm waiting to have my hysterctomy on 03/07. I'm nervous, but I know it needs to be done. I went in for my first abnormal pap in Nov 01, so I just had a colposcopy done about 2 weeks ago. It came back "severe precancerous changes" and since I have diabetes and also have my tubes tied my recommends having the hysterectomy, but leaving both my ovaries (thank goodness). If you ever feel like chatting or want to talk you can :email: me!
Good luck! When is your surgery?

so young

I know exactly how you feel and what you are going through. I am 27 years old, and I have had endo for about 15 years. I am very fortunate to have three little children (5,4,and3) since I was told I would never be able to have kids. I also suffer from interstitial cystitis so I have something else to go along with the endo. For the last five years in particular, all I would hear from the doctors was that I was too young to have all of these problems. Unfortunately, someone forgot to tell my body that I was 22 and not 60. Finally due to increasing problems, my doctor has advised me to have the hysterectomy done. Honestly, besides being nervous and scared about the actual surgery, I am pretty excited. I am so tired of all of the pain. No matter what I did, it only seemed to get worse. Make sure that you give this a lot of thougt since you have not yet had kids. You are right about the fact that you can always adopt. Just remember to keep all options open and to weigh the pros and cons of all. Best of luck and I will be thinking of you. Do what is best for you. God Bless you and keep posting to let us know what you have decided. My surgery is March 25, 2002.

I had read your post last week and apologize for not replying any earlier.

I work with a woman who had a hyster at 14. (She's in her mid-30's now) I'm going to give you a link to the thread that she replied to a couple of weeks ago.

Her name is Antlynne and when I told her about the site and that there were young women needing support, she said she'd help anyone that she could.

Be sure to let us know when your surgery date is.

I was 24 when they told me after a c-section that I couldn't have any more babies...a year later I went in and had a tubal. I think that if I had known then what I would be going through now at 37, I would have had a hyster done.

Always bad, painful, on-the-floor cramps for the whole period. Ever since I was 13!

They told me it would get better after I had kids. If anything it got worse!

Hubby and I now believe that I have had fibriods for years. They just started growing and I cannot wait to be done with all of this!

I can totally understand where you are coming from. You are certainly grounded in your feelings and extremely mature for your age *more than I was at 22!*

Any child you adopt would be extremely lucky to have you as a mom...

Good luck to you in your decision, I know it's not easy...

Adrite~Thank you for posting all of that! I will have to print it out so I can read it with the family. They have been curious.

mmm........ I am sooo nervous. I saw my doctor on Tuesday and she said because of the severity of the situation( i amlost died of internal bleeding from a bothed endo surgery last year and have to have emergency laparotomy) and my age... she would not feel comfortable performing the surgery by herself, so she is looking for another endo doc I would be comfortable with so that between the two of them they would not miss a single thing.... they are gonna try and do a sub total.... but also take out my tubes and ovaries too... because i have endo on my bladder and bowel, she would prefer i keep my cervix... it's less of a risk, if they dont have to operate to much around me bowel. I was sooo sad in the office...I saw a woman with newborn twins who came in, and I started to cry......sometimes I feel like I am being punished..... I live every day in pain and on medication, i know the docs in the hospital better than my friends.....and ive been doing this for twelve years..... all I wanted was to get married one day and have lots of kids like the rest of my family..... i know I can still do that.... they just wont be children from my womb, and sometimes that makes me so sad.the best part about a woman is givign birth(aside from the pain my mom never lets me forget :P) and I know I will no longer be sick after I have this surgery, and I can't wait to have m life back, but I just wish things had been different..... ive had to grow up a lot faster than i wanted to

ps please email me at [email protected] ...... I check that more often than here, i tend to forget

Oh Stephi,
you said the best part of being a woman is giving birth?? NO NO its not reallyTHE BEST PART OF BEING A WOMAN IS BEING A MOTHER... and you don't have to give birth to be a mother...it takes more than giving birth to be a mom.... you can adopt if you want to be a mom... I have 3 daughters and I would tell them the same thing... take good care of your health... in other words do what is best for your body right now, today and tomorrow will take care of itself.. I believe that God has a plan for each of our lives and He'll take care of anything that you desire in the future, so if you desire to be a mom one day, you will be.... HANG IN THERE, stay strong and focused. Its hard to not let our emotions run away with us....
