Hospital Stay

Prior to surgery I did lots of research on HRT. I decided to go with Climara Patch. .0375 . Anyway surgery started at 7:30 I was in my room by 11am. Of course pain was terrible mainly from catheter. About an hour later the nurse tried to give me my pravastatin!? Then I knew I needed to start walking ASAP to get out of there. Lol. I started walking by myself at 1:30 without help walking back and forth to nurses station for coffee. The morphine drip made me tired. Later I saw the doctor and told the doctor I wanted to b on next to the lowest dose of climara patch. Her response was " really I never heard woman suggest such a thing" well my response was I have never heard of wanting maximum dose at first after BSO. !?!? Anyway, that encouraged me more to stay active and I was released the next morning at 9:30 am! :-) The few things I have now naturally pain, fatigue. But my appetite has increased. I just ate three bananas! Better than candy bars. Lol. Any suggestions. Also,. My hair is kinda coming out. I'm not sure if my dose is to low or it's just from surgery. Moodswings kinda feel blahhh. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

Re: Hospital Stay

Wow, you got started on HRT early. My doc didn't start me on HRT for 10 days, and I thought that was early. It was 10 days of hotflashes, nightsweats, moodiness, and headaches. I started on Climara .05. I didn't have any appetite increase or weight gain. After 3 weeks, the doc increased my dosage to .075. So far I haven't had increased appetite, weight gain, and my hair isn't falling out... yet. I did feel like I had a lot more energy and could think more clearly after the increase.

As for what is causing your symptoms.... it could be either the surgery or the HRT (from what I've heard). Hopefully someone who has experienced what you are will come along and post her experience.

Re: Hospital Stay

And go easy with those bananas! BM after surgery are usually hard enough and bananas are a binding food!
Good luck!

Re: Hospital Stay

That's a pretty low HRT dose but you can always go up later. Anesthesia can affect hair as can low strogen so hard to separate that out. If you're premenopausal chances are good you'll need more HRT, maybe try a symptom log if you have symptoms, to try to get a better idea. If no symtoms, great. I hope your recovery goes well.

Yeah I wanted to go low first than increase after recovery. Think I may see and Endocrinologist. I've learned after being surgically casterated all sorts of things can get out of wack. Which I needed the procedure to potentially save my life. But, its odd thar gyn doctor never bothered to mention it!
