Pre Op Visit- Relieved Now!

The anesthesiologist I spoke with today put my mind to rest about several things.
Just as a good princess should, I went in with my list and asked every one of the questions!

I feel so much better now knowing the answers! I will be given some antinausea meds in the OR before going to recovery! YIPPEE Secondly, as soon as I awake, I am to rate my pain on a 1-10 scale and they will relieve me according to that scale with a Demerol shot.....by the time I get to my room I am suppose to be hooked up to the pump so I can self medicate as needed.

He also informed me I would be on the Demerol pump approx. 48 hours, and the catheter approx. 24 hours. He STRONGLY advised me to move around and walk if possible to pass gas in order to ease pain, however, if gas pains were too troublesome, I would be given something for it too!

Lastly, he stated they would make me more than comfortable and there was no reason to endure such a major surgery, only to be in constant misery.

I think I am in love with my anesthesiologist!

Pre Op Visit- Relieved Now!

Hi Reba,

I'm so glad that you were able to talk to your anesthesiologist and that you are feeling better about the hyst after talking to him. He sounds like a great guy, and one who is concerned about you and that's a good feeling to have.

Be sure to follow his advice about taking walks - it really does help.

We'll be waiting to hear your castle story when you are back home and have rested up for a couple of days.

Good luck,

's
