sick of dr. appointments, sick of tests & sick of being in pain.....

Hi ladies ! Guess i need some "venting time' again- if i didnt then i am afraid i might eventually explode or something. DH has been working 12 hr. days every day at work so i know he doesnt want to hear it. I went to the eye specialist today that my sister works for (my ENT wanted me to see him to rule out any tumors behind eyes). He is an excellent dr. but boy is he short on patience !! Now i have to get yet ANOTHER CT of my head & then go back to him since the CT's i brought were either 'too old" or not good enough for him. Thats in addition to the pelvic CT i need to do soon for my pelvic pain that is an almost constant anymore. And my pain meds were called in the other night but they were "out" of it so they only gave me 6 pills & said the rest would be in today & of course it isnt. If it isnt in at 3:00 tomorow like they said then i will have the rx transferred somewhere that can fill it. I am sitting here with a heating pad hoping it will help (never has) because i have nothing to take for it. Anyway, between the ENT, the uro., the eye specialist, the gyn. & my GP- they really have me coming & going, so to speak. And then theres all the lovely tests. AARRRGGGGHHHHH........ There- i feel a little better now. Thank you ladies- you are 's for listening to me complain all the time!!

Kind of a bummer when your social life is the waiting room of a doctor's office, isn't it? I always think that maybe next week I won't have an appt with a Dr or have to get blood work...or, or, or...you know the routine. Ahhh...we'll get through this, too, Susan.

Gosh about those pain pills. If that was insulin for a diabetic they would have someone running all over town to find it for you. How come pain is not as important? Ok...I won't go there. I think there are already a few other threads here about that.

Keeping you in my prayers, Susan...and I always have a few...

Susan,

my sister, boy can i feel your pain. i have been traveling the same road as you have for over two years. and there has been more than one occassion when i have been ready to tell all of my docs to go straight to [email protected]#@%.....a G.P., a gyne, a neurologist, a rheumatologist, and a therapist. and now i am about to add 2 more to the list a nutritionist and one for pain management. i have been in constant pain and the pain meds aren't working any more. i am exploring all other options before allowing myself to go back into the O.R. (adhesion removal/possible ovarian cysts). and like you i have been poked, prodded and tested to no end.

as for your pain meds, stay on that pharmacists butt until you get your pills. like kaatie said, if it were insulin for a diabetic they would probably be busting their behinds to get it. and you should not be treated any differently. hang in there my sister.
you are in my prayers.

......sending you many, jene

I know the feeling all too well. Feel like I've spent more than half of the last year sitting or ing in the doc's office or having tests done. I've been poked, pricked, and prodded too many times to count.

For awhile there it was sooo bad, that I actually would jump for joy if I actually had a week where I didn't have any tests or appointments. I actually felt like I was on vacation.

Hang in there Susan and keep looking for answers.

sick of dr. appointments, sick of tests & sick of being in pain.....

Susan ~ I'm so sorry. I do have an idea of how you feel. I too am so incredibly sick of doctors and their never-ending tests that usually show nothing. I now have the following doctors: GYN, GI, internist, Rheumy, GP, Neuro, and an allergist - I think that is it for now. I can't even remember being healthy anymore. Disgusting what we go through, isn't it? I am waiting on blood test results as we speak. 7 tubes in 2 days and they did one test wrong, so I had to take off work again (they love this) and go back in to get stuck. They had to lay me down for 30 minutes, then draw the blood, then keep it on ice???? What a weird test!!! Of course, all this after my internist tried his best to get me to admit I was depressed. No, I'm not depressed, but I am losing my patience with these doctors.

Anyway.....I would keep on that pharmacy to get your pain meds. How awful that it is taking forever. Please do go somewhere else if they can't help you. My pharmacy has been out or had to special order something, but it was always there the next day at the latest.

Hang in there! Sending love and 's!

Add me to the list!

Since my hyster, I've been through a gp, osteopath, 3 gyns, nephrologist, endocrinologist, cardiologist, internist and... a partridge in a pear tree!

I've had too many blood tests to count, dragged gallons of 24 hr. urine tests to the lab, CT scans on chest, pelvis, abdomen, glucose tests, captopril nuclear medicine renal scan, chest Xray, 2 ekg's, insulin level, gastrointestinal peptide, upper and lower GI series, and the list goes on. Funny I did all those tests when I initially complained of heart palps and pressure. Internist finally thought to do the echocardiagram and check out my heart. What a novel idea. Bingo! Finally have diagnosis of Mitral Valve Prolapse.

Everyone keeps saying this---hang in there! I'm far from feeling good on a regular basis, but at least I have something to work with. Bestest to all. Linda
