Multiple surgeries ovarian cysts

Hello again!
I had a laparoscopy in August to have a 14mm cyst removed from my ovary. The surgery went fine although I was extremely dizzy for over 2 weeks after that with no reasoning behind it.
Also while they were performing the surgery my dr found a fibroid tumor on my uterus. I have a mirena which is due to come out. I went to my gyno to have it removed but he asked if I'd seen the specialist about the tumor and I said no. He did a pelvic exam and suggested I meet the specialist to decide on birth control before removal. During the pelvic exam he thought he felt another very large cyst. He's ordered an ultrasound for next week and we'll "go from there".
How many surgeries can you have for this? I had the same surgery in 2003 and no other problems until last June. I'm 31 now and I don't have any children. I'm scared I may end up having to get a hysterectomy before that happens. Has anyone else had cyst problems that required a hysterectomy?
This is mostly venting but I'm glad this site is here!

Re: Multiple surgeries ovarian cysts

My situation was backwards. I had a hysterectomy then both of my ovaries removed. I was fine for almost a yr after the initial surgery. Then I started feeling sharp cramping in my abdomen. I went to my OB, had an ultrasound and was told I had several cysts on and around my ovaries. I had the ovaries removed and have been problem free.

Re: Multiple surgeries ovarian cysts

I had unexplained cysts on my ovaries, and ended up having to get them both removed.

Sometimes my cysts would bursts; sometimes they had to be surgically removed.
After 12 surgeries, I am ovary and cyst free.
(Granted, for me, some of those surgeries were due to "operator error", as I ended up with an ostomy from my second surgery.)

I'm 27 and had my last ovary out a year ago. I too have no children. It was an INCREDIBLY hard decision to make, but I FEEL so much better. I still have chronic pain, which will never go away, but I don't have crushing "can't move/want to kill people" pain (often, anyhow).

I would also question them to start Lupron before they take anything out. And while it *may* make you a crazy person (note: I was a total *****), it may also buy you some time with your ovaries.

Good luck!
