Question...

Is there a site like this one out there for our husbands to go to? Mine was wondering and I have no clue, tried a search on aol and came up with nothing. If any of you know of any, please let me know.

Thanks,
Athena

P.S. To those of you that told me I should try to go and see my Dr. before my pre-op on 2/25, I tried to make an appt today and he is out til 2/25 due to a family emergency. So looks like I won't find out much until then. Thanks again for all the great advice!

Question...

Hi Athena,
From what I have heard, I think that there may have been various sites similar to this for men at various times, but the thing with them is that men have questions they want answers to, and then they move on when they get the answers. So I guess that ongoing support forums for men like this don't really last. Thats not to say that there aren't support sites for men out there, but thats my knowledge of this topic.

Athena, on the home page under the ladies in waiting pull down menu there are some FAQ's for spouses and family members, that may be of some help to you. They answer alot of the common questions that family may have when wife/mom are having this surgery.

All the best to you,
Hugs
Maria

Question...

I'm sorry that you couldn't get in to see your doctor. It gets so frustrating!

Yeap--having been here since just a few months after the start, we tried to deal with this question when it came up the first few times. Women become very uncomfortable if they know men are posting and reading (though obviously reading happens all the time since this is a public site), so it won't work here. Some others have tried to start message boards for the spouses but like Maria said, they're more focused on the answer they want and then leave and also don't have a guiding hand keeping them going.

Frankly, there aren't that many message boards like these with women, either. I think it's a tribute to Kathy's vision and hard work.

Thank you

I went to the FAQ and my husband read the questions there, he said it helped. I really appreciate the info. Thank you so much. All of you have been really great with advice and answering my questions, I know that is what this site is for, but I want all of you to know I greatly appreciate it!
