What exactly is a prolapsed uterus and how does it happen?
Is it the same as a tilted urterus?
Thanks for the info.

Prolapsed uterus

Hi Ronnie,

Well, I have had both a tilted uterus and a prolapsed one. I'm not a doctor or other medical person, but from my own experience, they are different.

My uterus was tilted many many years ago and at that time my GYN taught me an exercise which helped to pull it back in place, just by the use of gravity. I'll try to describe it if you want.

A prolapse is different - the uterus is actually falling down and eventually may bulge out of your vagina. There are many reasons for prolapse, including, but not limited to having large babies, being overweight, age, etc.

The treatment that you and your doctor decide on is dependant on how severe the prolapse is.

In my case, I am 56, was going through menopause anyway, and made the decision to have the hyst.

I hope this information helps.

It is when the uterus "drops". There are different stages/severity. There are links about this on this website somewhere her at hyster sisters.

Prolapsed uterus

Hi Ronnie and Bleujean,

Here's a link to a thread concerning prolapse.

If you do a search on the word prolapse, you will find many others.

One warning though - the site called www.pelvicfloor.com is very good, but is also photos of an actual operation, and so is pretty graphic. I just wanted you to be prepared.

I hope this helps.
