How long???

I have a question for those of you who have had a TAH with or without BSO.

How long did the surgery take?? I didn't think to ask my doc since it isn't that important, but now I'm wondering how long my DH will have to wait for me to awaken from my deep sleep. :-)

How long???

Hi Pamela,

I'm a lady in waiting just like you, and I'm sure some princesses will come along and give you a better answer than this, but... meanwhile...

When my DH and I saw my doctor the other night, he said my TAH is scheduled for an hour and a half. However, he said the entire time from start to finish, including the time it takes for me to be "knocked out" until when I wake up in the recovery room should be about two hours and fifteen minutes.

Best wishes to you!

How long???

Thanks April,

That does make more sense than what I read. I bought some really great books and the only info I found on that was that the procedure lasts around 2 to 3 hours (didn't say from when to when) and that made no sense.

I just hate the thought that he sits there for hours and hours, especially when our kids are being taken care of by friends.

Thanks again,

How long???

Pamela. It all depends on what needs to be extra repairs, etc. I had tah/bso - no additional repairs and it took approximately 2 hours for surgery...and I was in recovery room for about that long - of course I don't remember anything but that's what my dh told me
