How long for Swelly Belly????

I am 14 days post op I am freaking out about this swelly belly thing. My mohter in law came over yesterday and out of the blue said, "You're doing great but you better be prepared that all women I know have a pot belly after a hysterectomy." I won't get into the fact that she seems to try to push my buttons but is she right will I have a pot forever. I excersise 5 days a week. Struggle with my stomach but maintain a size 10. Will this horrible thing go away?

How long for Swelly Belly????

I think the idea is preposterous. Maybe their hyst is the excuse all these women your MIL knows use so they can justify the tummy and avoid the exercise! . I've heard the swelling comes and goes for months, but that doesn't mean your MIL is right about always having a big tummy forever. You just have to wait until it is safe to exercise and take it slow and easy. Ask your dr.about when and what will be the best exercises for you to start with.

How long for Swelly Belly????

You are so EARLY in your recovery!I still get swelly belly if I do too mcuh after 4 months. But dr says I still have stitches dissolving and to cut back on the amount I do.
It does go away! After 5 weeks...I was so worried! I couldn't get into my pre-hyster jeans even though I had lost 11 pounds. I was very discouraged!
Now I wear my reg clothes, and when swelly belly hits, I just relax in sweats for the evening. When I wake up the next day it is gone.
Hang in there Joi. It will be so much better later! Don't listen to anyone but your body and your doctor! Some people like to push buttons....and look what we do...we worry about what they said. That is the only reason they do it. Change yourself not them. And you will be happy whatever comes around in your life. They will still be miserable and closed minded and still trying to get a piece of anger from others cause they can't face their own!
Lots of genteeeeel hugs! Go easy now---rest with your feet up and know you are healing and will be better than ever soon!

How long swelly Belly

You took the question right out of my mouth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am 4 weeks post-op and I am mentally ready to get back into the swing of things, but this belly is so swollen,.....I feel as if I am about 4-5 ,onths pregnant! I am also a size 10, 5"8'. I am so frustrated I could scream! I cried to my sister the other day, I just can't wait till this whole thing is over.
