Pressure and pain in the vaginal cavity after a robotic total hysterectomy

I am a week post op today and had to have a CT scan done today because of intense pelvic pain and pressure that started about 3 days after my robotic total hysterectomy. The Dr. did a pelvic exam yesterday and said she felt some bulging and sent me for the scan today. She said everything looks normal for a week post op, but that I have some residual fluid left in my abdomen that moves into my pelvic cavity when I stand up. She said it will absorb on it's own. I had my cervix removed as well and am a little concerned this extra pressure is going to pull apart my sutures. Has anyone had this happen to them???? I feel like I'm nine months pregnant after walking around for a little bit. All this pressure is so uncomfortable!!!

Re: Pressure and pain in the vaginal cavity after a robotic total hysterectomy

While I haven't had this experience happen to me, I just wanted to say I'm glad you saw the doctor so you know at least it's not too serious. Easier said than done, but please take care of yourself and it does get better.

Thanks for the kind words! Trying to take it as easy as I can, but a little tough with 3 children, especially when my youngest has Cerebral Palsy. Lifted him without thinking the other day and learned the hard way that I'm not ready to be doing that yet!!!

Re: Pressure and pain in the vaginal cavity after a robotic total hysterectomy

Is it possible you could enlist the aid of a trusted friend or responsible young person that could help you do some chores and help care for your children? I can understand your frustration but I am concerned for you. If you don't get enough rest, your body will let you know with more aches and pains. When we overdo, the pain increases... I learned this the hard way. You might feel as if you are walking on a tightrope now dear friend , so hopefully you can get some help at home. Feel better and hugs

Re: Pressure and pain in the vaginal cavity after a robotic total hysterectomy

I had the robotic DvH as well. I did experience pelvic pain and pressure and bladder spasms for a few days about 2 weeks after surgery. Thought I was getting a bladder infection but that didn't happen. This went away after a few days. I do still get pressure & discomfort if I do too much and am on my feet too long. Then I know it's time to rest. I hope you can get someone to help you with your kids. You need to heal and not hurt yourself. Take care. HUGS!!

Re: Pressure and pain in the vaginal cavity after a robotic total hysterectomy

Thanks Ladies!! I do have plenty of help, just am one of those people who doesn't except help easily. I am finding out my limitations though, especially how quickly I tire. I guess I just thought from all the success stories of quick da vinci recoveries I should be back to normal now. I guess each person is different though. Having a thrombosed hemrrhoid taken care of tomorrow so hopefully this helps with the rectal pain and pressure.
