hysterholic compute question

don't laugh - oh go ahead - but I bet I amnot the only LIW who will appreciate a response thothis very serious question - I am noticing on a daily basis each trip up my stairs, and every activity that involves my stomach muscles --here the potential problem/question - you knowthe bridge table and 4 chairs that everyone in the world plays cards on? well I use one of the foldable chairs as my computer chair...I just noticed tonight what a pain (in the neck) it is to shove it back and forth to get to the computer table, and them to shove it back again to get to my under the table keyboard...
yes I am obsessing but hyster sisters has become my best friend,a nd best medicine for getting through these anxious ridden days, when life goes on, and ,,,well youknow ---should I be investing in a computer/desk chair on rollers so that I can let me tootsies do the work when I return from the castle?? LOL, but very serious - what if i don't have the strength to pull out the chair - never mind my worries aout how long and how soon I'll be able to get on line with my hystersisters.--Lynda (still refusing to count the days, but panicing about all the things left to do)

hysterholic compute question

HI Lynda,

I found sitting in a straight back chair was very difficult for a long time. My "perch" day and night was the recliner in the den. I even spent many a night sleeping there because I was uncomfortable laying flat.

The only way I was able to handle sitting at the computer was to be in a well padded, rolling office chair that had a flexible back so I could partially "lay" down with feet propped up on a box under the desk.

Sitting is considered an activity post op, and there are limitations on the amount of time you should sit. Feet should always be propped up when you are sitting. And, sitting upright puts lots of pressure on internal sutures and should be extremely limited for several weeks.

I am now 6 months post op, and I still have problems with swelling in my feet and ankles if I sit at the desk too long without my feet propped up.

As for moving your chair in and out from the computer table, there are very specific restrictions for how much weight you will be allowed to lift. I don't think your doctor would want you lifting your chair or pulling it in and out. It will be ok to push or pull a chair on rollers tho.

Keep asking those questions. Take care.

Blessings and s
