Swelly Belly... To binder or not to binder

Today I am having a very hard day emotionally. I went a few days without my binder because I had this strange idea it would be good for my incisions to breathe. I am almost 2 weeks out from a Dvh and my 5 incisions are still healing (belly button one is bleeding sometimes). I also cut back on the Motrin 600 mg thinking it would be good to try to wean myself off since I don't really have much pain. Today I think I am regretting both decisions. I woke up with major Swelly Belly. I feel as though I am 5 months pregnant. I am also up about 4 pounds. I know that may not seem like a lot, but it is a little too much for my own comfort. The big belly really upsets me. All my clothes are uncomfortable and nothing fits right. So tonight I put the binder back on and will try to get back to a more regular, 6 hour schedule for the Motrin. What my question is...Does anyone wear the binder to help with the swelling? And if so, how long will this be an issue? Will the Motrin help with the swelling? Should I wear the binder around the clock? I am in the mindset that wounds need air to heal, so I feel like my incisions need fresh air. But I also want this prego-looking belly to go away!! Ugh I could just cry! I feel like I may be horomonal because this is upsetting me too much. Is there any other medication that can help with the swelling? Some kind of anit-inflammatory? Thanks for listening, Sisters!

Re: Swelly Belly... To binder or not to binder

I haven't heard anything re weather or not the binder held with swelling. I wore mine almost 24/7 for the first two weeks. I noticed less pain with the support on. It's more of a comfort thing. Suck it up and buy some elastic waist comfortable pants.... Zipper jeans are the devil!
