Meg -- have you tried Rescue Remedy? It's a liquid homeopathic with an eyedropper; you put a couple of drops under your tongue. I find it really soothing. You can get it at health food stores.

s. Mood swings are no fun.

I've heard some folks here say their PMS got better after their hysts, even if they kept their ovaries. Not sure why. But it's something to hope for, right?

They thought my adenomyosis was fibroids...even on the u/s, TWICE!

So, pathology reports are the only way for sure I guess.

That's okay, I'm free of my bowling ball, yay!

The symptoms are exactly what I was feeling, and I thought I had fibroids, silly me.

Hi Meg!

I had my hyst 3 months ago and kept my ovaries. I have still had a little PMS since, but not like I did pre. I'll feel a little irritable, sensitive (emotionally), and maybe a little of the cravings. The first month post was probably the worst out of the 3 months, but still not as bad as before. Plus, I was just recouping from surgery & that had taken a lot out of the body.

My theory about it being a little better is that I don't have the dread hanging over me that the heavy bleeding & pain is about to soon follow. This takes a load off my mind!!! I don't feel the "heaviness" in my tummy like I did pre. And I'm not staying constantly run down feeling from losing so much blood like I did before.

WOW.............That BOWLING BALL theory has gotten around. What a perfect way to pharse it!

Sometimes it is hard to decide if it is the PMS, periods and the clotting or the IBS causing the bloated feeling, For me it starts right after lunch. Probably sitting behind a desk most of the day does not help.

My doc thinks I have adenomyosis. Darn that word, I can never spell it.......I copy and paste it from the other posts! I wish I knew how to pronounce it!! NO.......I wish there wa no such thing!

Anyway, enough complaining, it is very comforting to hear so many other women share the same experience. I though I was going crazy or over-reacting!

Thanks for all the response to the "Aden.......whatever...posts Ladies!!

also have adenomyosis

It was really great reading all the posts from you ladies. Makes me feel like I am not alone. I am 33 years old and have been suffering for years with painful periods and in the past few years it has gotten to where I have pain all the time, but more severe around time for my period. And I can definitely relate to the "bowling bowl" feeling. What a great way to describe it! I was just diagnosed last week with adenomyosis and had never heard of it before. I had been to a doctor back in Jan. 2001 and he never told me I had this condition, so imagine my surprise when I went to a new dr. last week and he had the old doc's notes and right there it was! I was in shock. All this time the first doc let me believe I had a mega fibroid that was causing all my problems. I was sort of relieved actually to know that I am not crazy! Was beginning to think all the pain and suffering was in my head!
Anyway, I have no idea when my surgery will be scheduled for but I am so thankful to be part of such a wonderful site. You ladies are all the best and it helps me so much to know that I have somewhere to go that other women are going thru what I am going thru. Will let everyone know when my "time" is coming up. Soon I hope!
Thanks again for all the great posts.......
