Surgery Date...finally !!

Strength of Heart...always !!
Hello my Sisters,

I FINALLY received my surgery date today. Although I am sad, moody, down, meloncoly and anxious...I am glad that I have something set.

I have to say this to my sisters. I have been through countless GYN's over the years. My doctor is the sweetest, kindest, REAL, compassionate person I have ever met. He talks to me as if we are having a girl-to-girl chat with no B/S.

I saw him today and we talked for about 15-20 minutes and then he decided that even though he was doing the TAH/BSO, he still wanted to do a thorough physical and pap smear before the "barn is empty" so to speak. I thought that was very professional and I didn't expect it since I was having the TAH, I didn't think it was necessary, but he didn't want to leave any stone unturned.

Before he examined me, I asked him, "Now tell me the truth, aren't you sorry you met me? You must hate me. I drive you crazy." His reply was so genuine and he said that the difference between patients doctors don't like and the one's they do is that the patients they like are always pleasant no matter what. Considering I felt like a wet mop I took comfort in this comment. He told me I was always nice and honest and thought highly of me for that.

So back to his office and we went over the plan (which I had typed on my computer) and my complete med. history that I constantly update and all my blood work from the hematologist.
He explained that he would start me on .635 mg. of estrogen probably 1st or 2nd day after surgery. He said I may need more, but that will depend on my body. I asked him how will I know and he said, you'll know and then you'll call me and I'll take care of it. He hugged me twice, sent me to his nurse to sign the release forms and made my appointment for my pre-op testing, which falls on March 12th which is my birthday.

I am somewhat at ease this late evening. I also asked him why he couldn't operate sooner, but he said that on the days he's in the hospital for surgery he has many surgeries and he wanted mine to be the only one for that day. He wanted to be thorough and be able to devote his attention to me. I thought that was nice. Like I said, he's such a great dr.

So here I am sisters, counting down, 18 days. I pray for all my sisters everyday and hope for the same. I'm still thinking of things to keep me busy and am planning on getting my bedroom really ready. Getting a pillow topper and feather bed. Have my bath seat ready, wheeled walker and rented a hospital bed table for $15. a month. Want to be prepared.

Also getting myself ready to stop smoking after 18 years. He said it would be better for the HRT and for my health overall. So I will be on the high dose patch as soon as I check in the hospital.

I cannot express my gratitude for finding this site and for my sisters who reply to me, even just to say "Hi" and send "Hugs".

I am sending mine. I would love to talk...thanks again lovely sisters...
