hemmoragic cyst

Hello everyone,

This is my first post. so here goes, I am scheduled for a TAH/BSO on the 2nd of april.

I am 31 years old with 2 small children. 7years and 3 years. I am very worried about
this surgery you know " will I make it through anesthesia, surgery" etc.
I know that everyone
seems to have these fears it is just nice to hear from others waiting and wondering.

My main question is, when I went for my pre op ultrasound they found a large
5cm hemmoragic cyst on my right ovary.
We had already decided to take my ovaries, but now
I am worried about cancer on this ovary.

I do have polycystic ovarian syndrome and have had many cyst before,
however they have never been "hemmoragic"
my ob said " it is good we are taking them out"
and my endocrinologist said " it's huge"
Thanks for the support guys?
I am very ready to have this all over and feel better so
that I can spend more time with my children without being such a crank!!
Then comes HRT and that is a whole different set of questions.

Thank you all in advance for your support.

Welcome to the best place around for info, support and hugs! I'm really glad you posted...it will get easier each time!

Sometimes our medical professionals forget that they are talking about US...we are in the room with our "parts"!!! It can be unnerving to hear them talking about us as though we weren't living breathing SCARED people!!

I had my TAH/BSO just a year ago this week, and I can really relate to your comment about wanting to enjoy your family and not be in pain all the time. I'm here to tell you that you really can feel good again...just keep reading and post all your questions...read everything, and get prepared to take good care of yourself during recovery. Your kids will be thrilled to have you "back" and feeling better! We'll all be here to help you every step of the way!!

bbat, don't panic about that term. A hemorrhagic cyst simply means it's bleeding - not an uncommon thing to happen. While I have also had hemmoragic cysts in the past, the mass I had on my ovaries was of concern because it did NOT look like, and I quote, a "functional hemmorhagic cyst". The cyst you have is pretty large, and is probably causing you a lot of discomfort.

I recommend you call your doctor with your concerns. Ask him/her to explain the results of the ultrasound bit more clearly for you and ease your fears. The thought of cancer is a scary thing.

Thank you your support

I have a pre op appt with my doc on 26th I will discuss more re: sono then

Has anyone heard of the HRT injections, once a month?

I am very interested in them, but cannot for the life of me remember the name
of it. I have too much info flying at me and I don't seem to remember if
I don't write things down.

I am living in the fog
