Does This Sound Like Anyone Else?

WOW Ladies...amazing.
it's my right side as well as all the rest.
Lisa what does the ANA show? I know my daughter had some issues with that but I don't remember what is was all about.

I am printing your posts so I can read them when I am down and know I am not alone and not crazy. THANKS

I had MRIs of the brain - normal and the lower back - discs herniations and stenosis and waiting on the thoraic area MRI ... see my prob with those are they show too many things and then no one knows what to treat.

But there is definetly and wave to this....and now I do notice this past week or so - everytime after dinner, I flush up.

After the shower - you are right. Beet red and then the cool down comes and I could be freezing.....hmmm, maybe I will visit the doctors after a shower so they can see it for themselves. Right now I have to shower in the night because it takes sooooo long to return to normal skin color. Yes, a shower look for them is in order!

Sorry I took forever to respond. The headache from yesterday got worse and I woke up with a real THROBBING this morning. My left eye was watering and swollen and I stayed in bed as long as possible before dragging my body into work.

Anyway, ANA is a test to show if you have antibodies in your blood. They test it quite a bit in autoimmune diseases. In my case, they just repeat the blood tests every 6 months or so to see if the ANA test and/or symptoms I am having are starting to point to anything. They say some people have positive tests for no reason and some folks with autoimmune issues even test negative. It seems the ANA titer, pattern and your symptoms can help determine what disease might be lurking. It is somewhat confusing, but if you do a search for it, there are lots of good sites that explain it soooo much better than me!

I'm gonna tell my allergy doctor this Thursday that I am stopping the shots for a while. I have to know if the shots (2/wk) are causing the flushing/hives and headaches I keep getting. He will be angry I am sure, but I need a break to figure this all out. Besides, my internist and GI guy don't even agree that I need the injections - Oh well.

Hang in there sweetie!

Lisa

I just wanted to add that sometimes adhesions can be detected through colonoscopy. That is if they are causing the bowel to kink or narrow etc.

I just had a colonoscopy and my doc found 3 places in my bowel that were kinked. Two narrow parts and one pulling part.

Hope you feel better soon.

I will check out ANA on the web. One of the bloodtests my dr ordered looked like AWA - but I bet it is ANA.....she wrote a whole mess of "weird tests" as she put it.
I have that done Friday morning.

As for colonoscopy - hey, I hope they find something they can unkink! Can you offer advice - should I be sedated during it? The dr said it's up to me from mild to knocked out.
What is common?

I haven't had one of these but I have heard from other sisters that it's best to be knocked out for it in case they do run into any sort of obstruction or kink that might cause pain........I'm sure they will be along shortly!!! PS I get the red shower face too as well as other times during the day, right across the bridge of my nose and on my cheeks!!!

When I said earlier about some tests not being able to detect adhesions, I wasn't necessarily referring to a colonoscopy. Just wanted to clear that up in case someone took it to mean that a laparoscopy is the only way to tell. I was mainly talking about with an ultrasound or CAT scan in general, the adhesions may not show unless they can see the kinking/obstruction there too. Yes, there are signs that can be present to detect adhesions with a colonoscopy too, such as the kinking or obstruction.

Just found out today that I have to have a colonoscopy too. My dr is giving me Versed & Demerol. Even if it doesn't hurt, I'd rather be knocked out while someone is messing around that area. I know it will because I recently had an EGD & was given that then & it did. I'll be getting an even stronger dose this time.

LaurLaur,

Hi hon. Sorry to hear you are having continuing problems. I do get the flushing and redness too, the headaches for days, hot flashes (yep on HRT) and cold sweats too still.

I had a colonoscopy done in Jan, it showed nothing but a few hemorroids. So the fiber/softners bit didn't help at all made my pains worse. I have pelvic pain continued on both sides and horrible bowel pain, can feel it from the right to the transverse colon to the left colon and then that's he** then finally have a BM and feel better. But it takes me 30min to go. No kidding ladies.

My thoughts are with you. I have had 3 doctors refuse to open me up again. They are sure I have adhesions and don't want to cause more. Cuz even if they are removed they have the possibility of coming back worse than before. That's what's happened to me with the lapartomy/BSO. I am still mad about that. I don't like being menapausal 20 years early. It *****. There I had to get that out.

Anyway I havent' been on here for months now. I'll post and update you all on the goings on in my life.

Take care all!

As to the flushing, even if not identical (or symmetrical), could blood pressure be affected when you eat, etc.? Might not hurt to investigate that part ...

I really don't know ... it's just a wild guess (no different than what we're all left when specialists don't know). My grandma and aunt take meds for diagnosed high blood pressure, yet I have an anxiety disorder. Honestly, often the symptoms manifest to appear very similar.

What made me guess that was how wine (therefore, maybe even other food ingredients) will bring on a hot flash, temporarily bring up blood pressure, or (especially hams cured in certain ways) a full-fledged anxiety attack.

Never hurts to check.
