I had my 2 wee check up today and I took my 2nd pill of detrol la today to. I have been having bladder spasams that would knock a horse down. since the first pill I took i have not had a spasam. Before that I took the URISTAT for 2 days and that worked good to but once I stoped the uristat 12 hours later here came the bladder spasams. Have any of you had htis trouble.I did not have this before surgery. I had a TAH/and both ovaries removed. thanks LUCKY:CAT:

Hi Janet, I am glad that the Detrol seems to be helping you. I did not have any bladder problems following my TVH last year, but I know that many other women have experienced these problems.
I hope that you continue to heal well and please keep us posted on your recovery.

All the best,
Rita

I had a TAH/BSO on 1/2/02. I did great for the first 3 weeks, then started having major bladder problems. I did have an infection, but after 2 rounds of antibiotics, the infection was totally gone, but I was absolutely miserable with my bladder!! I had so much pressure and pain. Anyway, My Dr prescribed Detrol LA and I took it for about three weeks. It did help... My bladder is still not feeling normal, and I never had problems before the surgery, but I think it just takes a lot of time to heal. I am feeling MUCH better. I am thinking of you and crossing my fingers the meds work!

Bladder Spasms

Hi Ladies

Thank you, thank you for your posts on the spasms. Surgery on 1 /22, I did fine with my S-P Catheter, but then it fell out ten days later. I was in the hospital for 8 days due to Paralytic Ileus and Total obstruction of my colon. During that time the bladder spasms were overwhelming & I had to self-cath. Soon, I was peeing and had no spasms. Two weeks ago they started again. I have to go so badly, yet only a trickle & pain. I forgot to take my catheter as a backup for work on Mon and couldn't pee at all. AHHHHH! I just picked up Detrol, so I'm glad to see that it has helped you all. I am all panicked over flying to our friends for Easter, but if I bring all my supples, I should be set. Has anyone experienced urine leakage after peeing, that started two months after the surgery?

Have a Happy Easter and a speedy recovery, and thanks for all your support!!! :usflag:

I took the detrol before my TAH/BSO, but still had problems with the spasms occasionally. I did not have to take it for a few months after my surgery (1/30/02), but now have had to start taking it again. Maybe I'm consuming to much caffeine again, and not enough water. But the detrol is a godsend to the "hyper" bladder!
