Swelly Belly

Frances,
I can only tell you my experience which is, my surgery was just one year on March 12th......up until that time I was feeling a swelly belly and some soreness.
It has been a few weeks now where I have not had one.
If at anytime you feel any discomfort that you are not comfortable with I would immediately call the doctor.
I remember all sorts of aches and pains in the beginning. I beleve it was all from the healing. Anytime I was not sure I called the doctor. I would rather be a nuisance then not sure.

Don't worry

Frances:

At six weeks, you are not nearly healed yet. I still had some pain and sweling at that time, too. Mine was on the left side, though. My humble opinion is that possibly there is more work needed on one side, thus the swelling. No reason was found for mine, but it was gone by six months. it just takes time. I know it is worrysome, though. You never know what is "normal", and everyone IS diferent. Take care. I wish you a speedy recovery!!

Swelly Belly

Having just had a badly sprained ankle, I was thinking that the was like that. The more you use it, the more it would swell--as the blood and fluids rush to protect the injury. And in fact, that's what you still are. It's a set of injuries that your body is healing. So, of course you swell in the evening and don't in the morning. Anyway, that part is totally typical--and like Valentina, I found it lasted for a long time.

Swelly Belly

Hi, Frances!

I, too, was quite sore for a while and had swelly belly for 3 or 4 months. Some sisters have it for even longer, so I consider myself blessed! Mine was always worse in the evening after a full day of caring for the family and working. I think it goes down at night because 1) you are resting and so not causing more swelling to occur; 2) since you are laying down, it's easier for the fluids to return into your system and be "processed". Then, unfortunately, we get up in the morning and start all over again. It will get better with time--be patient with yourself.
