Thumbs up - My laparoscopic hysterectomy surgery story My laparoscopic hysterectomy surgery story

I had my hysterectomy with removal of one ovary and both tubes on Monday morning. I am no stranger to surgery. Ive had a few others. Pre op was standard. Remove clothes, put on paper gown, hook up hoses, start IV. The anesthesiologist came in asked a few questions. After my Dr. came and asked if I had any questions we were ready to go. The anesthesiologist came back in and shot some stuff into my IV that burned like the dickens for about 3 seconds. After that I didn't really care. I woke up in recovery and I was in pain. They gave me morphine in my IV and that took care of it. When I got to my room I was freezing. My teeth were chattering so bad they could not take my temp and had to stick it in my arm pit. They got me a stack of warm blankets and cranked the heat to 80. They said they were used to the surgery people sending us up to them frozen. My pain was only at a 3 the rest of the day and evening. I was able to get up and shuffle around the room a little. I wanted to walk down the hall but I still had a cath so I didn't push it. About 1 am things got ugly. They didn't wake me for my pain meds and I woke up in awful pain. It was at an 8 pushing 9. We got the meds on board but I was already worked up by then. The nurse tech was amazing. She helped get me untangled from the hoses and blankets, she gave me tissues and helped me calm down and relax. Staying on top of the pain with meds is key. If you get under it, it takes much longer to get relief. Dont try to be a hero. Take the meds. I was able to go home about 10 that morning. Im doing great. I can get up from the couch, go to the toilet, and walk around by myself. The only thing I cant do is get up out of bed. Thankfully I have my husband to help me. Oh, do yourself a favor. Buy some granny panties! The place that my incisions are my bikini panties cut right across. I've been sporting the sexy mesh hospital panties. :lol
