How long were you in the recovery room right after your hysterectomy surgery before they let you see your family

I was wondering how long you were in recovery before they let you see your family etc? I'm afraid of being alone or forgotten. I'm going to a large city hospital.

Re: How long we're you in recovery?

I don't even remember being in recovery. However you won't be alone. They are constantly checking on you.

Re: How long we're you in recovery?

How long was I in recovery or how long was I aware of being in recovery? Lol. As soon as I was awake, they brought my husband into recovery. I was a day patient so I never left recovery until I left the hospital. If I was going to stay the night, my husband would have been waiting for me in my room. I was really worried about being alone as well, but honestly, I was so groggy in recovery that I didn't even notice. And I wasn't alone. In the hospital I went to, patients in the recovery area have a one on one nurse who was never more than a foot or two away from me. She went to the bathroom with me and was even prepared to do the wiping! I was groggy but not that groggy!

Re: How long we're you in recovery?

I was in recovery for an hour before I woke up and a nurse was right beside me. As soon as I woke up my hubby and kids were brought in to see me and I was automatically taken to my room where the rest of my family was able to come. I wasn't ever alone.

Re: How long we're you in recovery?

I vaguely remember being wheeled to my room so dont know how long exactly in recovery. All I know was my surgery started at 8 am and I was in my room around 1 pm. My surgery was about 2.5 hours according to the dr.

Re: How long we're you in recovery?

I woke up and the nurse was there and she stayed with me until I was able to get up and pee. Then hubby came in, helped me get dressed and I went home. I remember being very groggy and sore, sipping ice chips, and getting pain meds then anti-nausea meds. In and out of sleeping. Lots of sleeping that day.

Good luck with your surgery -- I hope you have someone going with you.

Re: How long we're you in recovery?

I don't remember much about the recovery room. I remember the surgeon talking to me and lots of noise from all the talking.. They only asked if I was in pain. My husband said that I was there for about 1.5 hours.
They called him at 4:15 and I brought to the room at 6:00 pm. So I am thinking that they called him after all was out and they were stapling me up.

I remember waking up asking for pain meds, then someone asking me to scoot to the bed in my room.
