Sleeping after hysterectomy: It hurts to turn? Body pillow?

Hello Everyone !! I hope everyone is well ! It's 3:00am I am laying in the hospital bed , how do you sleep ? It truly hurts to turn . I am a side sleeper with my leg up . I was thinking of a pregnancy body pillow ? Has any tried one ? Thank you for your time

Re: Sleeping

I actually went home the night I had surgery. I had this huge body pillow that goes up both sides and under my head. I could lay on my side with my leg up one either side with that pillow. And a few others tucked around. It was sort of like a nest. And I did that the first night. It sort of hurt to get in position, but once I got there if I was still for a minute or two everything settled in. Make sure to take a pillow for your tummy for your trip home!

Someone here had great advice for me. Try and lay on the side that hurts the most. I had a DiVinci and my right incision was extremely painful. Now I wedge a pillow under my tummy and actually slept last night!!

I also found it helped when lying/sleeping on my back to put a pillow under my knees. For some reason that alleviated the pressure on my abdomen and I could actually sleep and not wake up with any discomfort.

And to add on to what every one has said, depending on how tall you are, a king sized pillow might work just as well if you already have one at home. And if you don't, king sized pillows and covers tend to be way cheaper than body pillows.

I didn't have DV, but it's what I did the first week.
