Re: What did you give up post hysterectomy ?

I gave up roller derby, which has been a little hard for me emotionally (hard to watch everyone skate and not be able to). But that is only temporary - as soon as I get the go ahead from my Dr. I will be back at it (carefully and gradually of course!).

The GREAT things I'm permanently giving up are my period and cramps, and hopefully the awful pain I was experiencing! I also wouldn't care if I never vacuumed again lol.

I gave up beef in an effort to lose weight. I also gave up a clean house temporarily until I felt well enough to clean.

Sleep. I'm telling myself that insomnia is my choice!

Coffee.. yes I said it! I didn't have it the day of my surgery and I wasn't interested in it the first few days afterwards. Now it's just not there to want. Of course - it might not last

Love that you do roller derby!!! I don't do that, but I do MMA and I had the same emotions about missing out.I was completely back at 6 weeks, though. Hoping the same for you!

Re: What did you give up post hysterectomy ?

A husband ? Uh o

Yeah I let DH vaccine, I let him do any housework he wants- lol.

I'm replacing what I give up w/ stuff I like to do, like feeding the birds and watching them on the window ledge, getting their seed. I'm giving up anything stressful and learning the meaning of ' let it go' as well.

Re: What did you give up post hysterectomy ?!

Just pole dancing and riding horses but only until I'm healed. I teach pole so I'm busy doing paperwork for classes and coming up with new ideas. I'm using the "down" time to get caught up and make some fun new stuff happen. This upcoming week I hope to start working on rhinestoning one of my burlesque corsets.

Re: What did you give up post hysterectomy ?!

I'm still in the early stages of recovery from what I have been reading.

The biggest thing I have given up is the pain. I still have twinges if I over do it but nothing like before. I was literally in pain everyday. It's been amazing really.

I have also learned to not sweat the little things. DH and I are getting along better and I have been more patient with the kids.

I am excited to get the go ahead to start working out, I am way out of shape from being couch or bed ridden for the last 2 years. I want to do my yard work again, that is something I enjoy.

Re: What did you give up post hysterectomy ?!

I am trying to give up 'stressful things' because of my increase in migraines . Yeah learning also to let 'little things ' go.

I also meant ' vacuum ' in the previous post. I'm finding myself not jumping ahead of everyone and letting others pitch in more. I still end up in a pinch if I lift too much, so letting others handle the heavy stuff. Otherwise I'm 'climbing the hill of recovery' slowly but surely.

Yeah I find myself not wanting to put the superwoman cape, back on I just want the be the ' ordinary woman' instead and spend my time on the special things. Having a glass of tea, taking a walk, watching a show, working on a hobby while the rest of the world goes
In ' crazy fast mode.' Lol . I'm trying to do 'something I love everyday.,
