Suggestions for Recovery

Well, tomorrow will be my 4 week hysterversary and I am starting to feel SO much better! Weeks 1 & 2 went pretty well with each day seeing some improvement. Week 3 was puzzling--pain, swelling, and spotting for the first time since surgery. That was a little depressing--maybe I overdid it at the end of week 2. I still have swelly belly every evening and some fatigue every day but both are getting much better and I'm starting to feel like my normal self again! Anyway, I just wanted to share a couple of things I think have really helped me in my recovery. Floradix iron and herbs is a liquid iron supplement that I've used for a couple of years to deal with iron deficient anemia. If you look at it on Amazon, you'll see tons of positive reviews. I can't say enough good things about it. It is expensive, but you only take a tiny amount each day so a large $40 bottle lasts for a month. I get it at a local health food store but it can be hard to find so I have used Amazon also. It's the most easily absorbed source of iron I've ever used and it doesn't constipate. The other thing I find really helpful for restoring my energy levels and helping in healing is Emergen-C. Most big box stores or grocery stores carry it as well as Walgreens and CVS. Since my hysterectomy, I've been drinking it twice a day. The B vitamins give me an energy boost and the vitamin C helps with tissue healing and iron absorption.

Rest is essential. I probably did not rest enough at the end of week 2 and paid for it in week 3. It's just hard to know how much is "too much".

Hope this info will help someone in their recovery. I stocked up on both Floradix and Emergen-C before my surgery!
