Fistula

Hello ladies...I had my TVH 1/29/02 and as of today I have walked around with the cath. that was put in 2/20/02. The day after my surg I complained to the Dr. that my bladder hurt he did an MRI and urine test but everything was neg. Then by the 3rd week post op my bladder hurt so bad and I was leaking urine I went back to him and he said I had a severe bladder infection(I waited to long to go back to him but I thought the pain was from the surgery) OH GREAT I went home with Antibiotics and a cath....and the diagnosis of fistula (he stated the last time he had seen a fistula was in 1979, not a statistic I wanted to hear).....and trips back to see him every two weeks and I STILL have the Cath and Antibiotics and now a referal to the specialist to fix my bladder (who knows how long it will take to get in to see him)

I feel for all you ladies out there that are going through any post op complications. We were all hoping to feel BETTER after surgery not worse and with the thought that we would have to go through surgery again so soon.

I just thank God that my husband is an understanding, loving man.................. I am just tired of all the attention that part of my body is getting and I can't even enjoy making love to my husband. I do not feel very sexy having to wear a leg bag and baggy pants all the time.

Just thought I would let some of my feelings out here instead of keep telling my husband the same thing over and over I'M SICK AND TIRED OF BEING SICK AND TIRED

Prayers To All

Had one too...

Hi Juds,

's to you, my dear. I have been where you are and know just what ya mean. I had a TAH/BSO in Sept 2001. It was discovered in Oct that I had a fistula, had the first repair surgery, and was back in for a second repair in Dec. I had to wear my wonderful "BLADDER ON A BUNGIE" for 8 weeks and 6 days. It was soooo irritating.

Did the doc say how long they were going to let it heal on it's own or what?

I so feel for ya SYSTER. There are several other ladies that have been through the same thing and perhaps they will come along soon to give ya the support ya need.

If ya get a chance, do a search under my name - trckrswif - to read my stories, and if I can be of any help, let me know.

I hope that all turns out well for you and you get off this road...just remember, we are here for ya and always have lotsa 's for ya. Keep your chin up!!!

Me too

Hi there, It happened to me too. I had my tah/bso last November and about 3 weeks after the surgery I noticed that I wasn't peeing right! (I was peeing out the vagina) I had my foley catheter for 9 weeks and 2 days. I had a vesicovaginal fistula and I went thru bladder repair surgery on Feb 7, 02. I feel great but right now I am experiencing another bladder infection and I am on antibiotics for that. I sure do hope I'm not gonna be the type who constantly has those infections. Just to let you know there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I know what your going thru. If you have any questions or need to vent give me an email or IM me. Take care

Thank You All

Thank you all for your support....

I go to my GYN today and am suppose to get my referal to my specialist....let's see if it happens or not.....My doctor keeps saying the specialist does not want to see me until I heal from the Hyster.

I would appreciate any info anyone can give me as to the fistula repair surgery.

I will keep you posted as to what is going on with me.

My motto is....Keep smiling it makes people wonder what your up to.

Hi Juds

I am gonna tell you what I experienced thru my bladder repair surgery. Surgery was at 10:30 a.m. and I got out of there around 2:30. The urologist told me that he wrapped my bladder 3 times and that means he took tissue from the inside and repaired the fistula. I stayed in the hospital overnight and was able to go home the next day. They had to go cut my stomach again but this wasn't anything compared to the hyster. I wore the catheter for 2 weeks and it came out and I have been cath free since. I hope I helped a little.
