Re: MTHFR mutation??
I have this mutation too (both strands). I haven’t found many doctors who even show interest in it.

Here are a couple links that may help: NIH MTHFR info and MTHFR Awareness Site. I hope you get it figured out.

Re: MTHFR (Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase) mutation??
Are you being told that you cannot have HRT _because_ of your MTHFR mutation/s? I'm very interested - I'm wrestling with the ovary decision. I'm double trouble on the 677 mutation but I'm okay on 1298
EDIT: found the following research that indicates that the bad version of 677, especially the doubly-bad 677TT, is actually _protective_ against breast cancer when on HRT. Maybe something to share with your doctor? http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15598763

...These findings suggest that the MTHFR 677TT genotype may confer a 40% decreased breast cancer risk in postmenopausal women using HRT...

That said, I haven't found anything on the clotting issue yet.

Re: MTHFR (Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase) mutation??
Another MTHFR...um, er? Here! I find that the enzymatic B vitamins have been great for me (not good at breaking those down). Also, I don't convert beta-carotene to A almost at all and that's also related somehow. I have to take a regular vitamin A suppl ands that's been helpful.

Re: MTHFR (Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase) mutation??
I have that too. Isn't that the funniest acronym EVER? In all seriousness, I used to work in a coagulation dept of a lab and asked our specialist about it. He said it really wasn't that big of a deal. Whatever that means.
