hmmmm how to occupy my time while in the hospital?

A friend with a great deal of hospital experience herself bought me a Walkman with headphones for my stay. I was only in the hospital about 24 hours and slept through about 22 of them, so the Walkman never left my bag. However if you wind up with a roommate who has lots of visitors, it would be a great way to drown them out and snooze.

hmmmm how to occupy my time while in the hospital?

I was in the hospital for 3 nights. If you are having a general anesthesia, it won't be worn off until after you go home. I found that the pains meds kept me groggy most of the time and I couldn't concentrate on books or anything that required reasoning or cognitive thinking. So, I did something out of the ordinary. I watched TV! I also took frequent short walks down the halls lugging my IV pole and catheter bag. It takes a while to get up and down and around, so it would take up some time and then tire me out enough to require a nap when I returned!
