Is 2 weeks too soon to go back to work after hysterectomy?

My Dr. Advised me that I would be fine to go back to work at 2 weeks. I have a desk job so I don't do any lifting, just a bunch of sitting. I am still not feeling Great so I don't know if I should take another week off?? I don't even have my post op appt for another 2 weeks. I drove yesterday and am paying the price today. Plus my job is a 45 min drive 1 way...opinions greatly appreciated

Re: Is 2 weeks to soon to go back to work?

I would request more time off. I personally think 2 weeks is Davinci marketing hype. I couldn't even sit up straight on a regular chair at that time. If you do have to go, make sure you get up and walk around often. Also, I bought one of those as seen on tv Forever Comfy pillows at Target and it has helped a lot with sitting at the desk, dining room table, etc. Good luck to you, but I hope you get to stay off from work another week or two at least.

Thank you I think I'm gonna request another week. I'm up and around every day and feeling pretty good but I don't want to over do it. Thanks again!

Re: Is 2 weeks to soon to go back to work?

I had Da Vinci and tried to go back to work after 3 weeks. I just went for a few hours. I too have a desk job. After I got home, I had bled a little more than normal and was exhausted. That was a Monday. I went back on Friday for just a few hours. I wasn't as tired and didn't bleed as much. I did the same thing this week. I went in Monday. I did well. I went in today and had more bleeding. Just when I thought I was doing well. Take it easy and don't rush things.

Thanks I can't believe some women go back after only a week! I thought for sure I would be good to go by week 2. I was wrong lol. I'm gonna work from home next week so I can take it easy. Thank god I have a job that I can do that if need be.
I am SO thankful to have all u Wonderful sisters to lean on

Re: Is 2 weeks to soon to go back to work?

I went back 1 day shy of 5 weeks post op. I also have a desk job, but only drive literally 5 minutes to work.

I wish I would have taken 6 weeks. My doc said 2 weeks and I could go back. Sitting up in the chair unable to move around or lay down was tough.

I am 8 weeks post op today, and still having good and bad days. I had a lot of pelvic pressure today, but I made sure to get up and move more at work. It did help.

Re: Is 2 weeks to soon to go back to work?

I went back to work half time after 2 weeks, although I didn't have to commute to work. I worked from home on the computer, and I could barely tolerate the 4 hours a day sitting at a computer desk. I'm at 5 weeks post op and I'm back to full time, but it exhausts me by the end of the day. I also feel that I have brain fog, so it takes me a little longer to do my job because I need to double and triple check my work. I only took prescription pain meds the first day out of the hospital, so I can't blame it on that, lol. I would ask for more time off....my stamina and attention span is not back to where is was pre-surgery.
