Long time since i was here

HI xx

I had a TAH in February 2001. I found this site about 3 wks prior to surgery. It really helped me prep for my op, such valuble information and emotional support. Everything went well, i had consented to an oopherectomy if needed, but my gynae managed to conserve my ovaries.
The only blip was that i contracted MRSA while in hospital (it is very common in U.K hospitals) This meant i had to have a nurse come in to dress my (very sore!) wound every day for 4 wks post op. During this time i was not able to move about much, or get up the stairs to bed. My p.c and THIS SITE were my saviour!!
Once the MRSA had cleared up i really accelerated in my recovery. For the first time in years i felt 'Well'. When i returned to work, after 6 mths, i met by chance with one of the nurses who was in charge of the ward i was on in hospital. I told her about this site and she put a huge notice on the ward notice board informing patients of the www address and having checked it out for herself, found lots of information that was useful to her in a professional capacity.
Anyway, i just wanted to let all those in waiting know that a year down the line, my hyster is a dim and distant memory. How wonderfully well and free i feel and that anyone who is about to go through with the operation, life will be so much better afterwards.
Good luck to you all xxx

Hi Denise. What a wonderful post. It is so thoughtful of you to 'drop by' and let all the ladies in waiting know that there is life after a hysterectomy. You may want to even post this on the Pre-Op boards to ease some worried minds.

All the best,
Rita
