PLAVH 7/31 - tips for pre/post op

I had PLAVH 7/31 and found some of the tips here helpful so thought I'd share too.
someone mentioned earplugs and I didn't take any - wish I would have because it was impossible to rest with hallway noise and even in-room noise at times (hubby rattling newspaper or readjusting in chair, etc).
Took thin socks and was glad I had them to keep my toes warm but not sweaty in hospital booties.
Didn't worry too much about appearances and have short hair so my toothbrush/toothpaste and deo were most useful. My mouth was freakishly dry after surgery and I could only moisten with swab and munch a few ice chips .. After begging to brush and promising to not swallow water...brushing made a huge difference.
pain and discomfort wasn't near as bad as I expected...honestly the catheter and vaginal packing were the worst early next am when those were removed, I was much more comfortable! Walking helps clear your head and loosen bowels, but if you are still not passing gas, ask if you can go for a ride in a sounds silly but the gentle vibration of rolling over tile did the trick...the ride home helped too! good luck to you!
