Banking Blood

Just had to tell someone about my "wonderful" experience today. My TAh is in 2 weeks and I decided to bank my own blood for the surgery. So I started my iron pills like a good little girl, ate my breakfast and headed to the Hoxworth Center to donate blood for the first time. Everything went really well. It didn't hurt and I wasn't really all that light-headed. Or so I thought. I left to go to my car in the attached garage and while waiting for the elevator I started to feel a little dizzy. Next thing I know I'm laying on the concrete in front of the elevator. I passed out cold!! How scary! I had to use an emergency phone to call security for help. They took me to the ER where I had to tell my oh so embarrassing story to about 50 different people! As if waiting for a hyst isn't traumatic enough! Just had to share this! Hope that blood was worth it!!

Banking Blood

Hi, TaraLee,

I'm sorry you had such a scary experience. I'm glad you're all right now. Please tell the folks at the blood bank that this happened. They really need to know about your experience. Take care of yourself now, OK?

Best wishes,
