2 weeks post-op still need pain meds?

Hello,
I was just wondering if any one of you like me are still
needing to take pain meds, about every 6 hrs,I am taking
codine#3. I had a tah/bso on 4-4. I will see my Dr. today for
my 2 week check up and will ask her too, just wanted to know if this was the norm.
Thanks for being here to answer our many questions Ladies!!
God bless you each and every one. Kathy

It's possible. I was taking them on and off for about 2 weeks after. It also depends on your pain level. Are you in a lot of pain, or just a little now and then? Keep track of what pain you have and when, like if you've done any lifting, bending, stretching, etc. It'll make it easier for the doc to figure out why you're having it.

Most hospitals and docs are using the 1-10 method of judging pain. I think I was at about a 3 most of the time if I didn't take anything. Bearable, but pain is anti-productive for healing.

Hope you feel better soon.

2 weeks post-op still need pain meds?

I took at least one dose of pain meds just about every day for the first 3 1/2 weeks. And I generally had a very easy recovery. I think I just kept overdoing it -- and I'm really sensitive to physical sensations.

I'm not on my percocet anymore, but I do take the motrin 800 at night and a couple of advils during the day. Mostly I take it for achey crampy feelings and to help reduce the swelling. But I didn't seem to have a lot of pain after the surgery....except that first day.

As you have heard though, we are all different I've heard plenty of women on this board mention they are on meds even at 4 weeks.

Pain

I had my supracervical hyst same day as you. I didn't take any pain meds after about 4/9, but my worst pain was gas pain and so the Phazyme (twice a day) worked for me. But, we're all different. The main reason I didn't take pain pills (even when I thought it might be nice) was because I figured it would slow down my digestive system, and I was more concerned with getting that back on tract.

Pain is such an individual thing. If you have really needed them, don't feel bad. We're all different.
