STILL WAITING on biopsy results.

My gyn. did the endometrial biopsy on 4/12. Said it should take 5-7 days to get results. I held off calling until Friday (4/19) afternoon.......I couldn't stand it any longer. The nurse called back and said that "those" reports usually take a little longer so maybe I'd get a call "one day next week". Errrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Patience is NOT one of my best virtues!!!!!!
Anyway............I have made the decision to go ahead with the hysterectomy, regardless of the biopsy results. Just want to feel better, ya know????

Waiting and waiting

Amy,

I feel for you, having to wait even longer for the results. It seems like we spend more time waiting than anything else. And I think to most of us, waiting is equal to worrying.

I have found setting short term goals has helped a little. My dh and I had a weekend getaway planned for our 20 anniversary and I focused on that, putting the surgery on the back burner (ok, it was never far from my mind). After that, Little League season started so I tried to focus on my son's games.

We are planning to go to a local theater group play next weekend, so I'm trying to focus on that. ANYTHING to get my mind on something else.

I also found if I got my stuff ready for the hospital stay, I could relax a little more.

I'm still nearly five weeks from surgery, but this weekend bought slip-on slippers, GasX, my last box of pads, loose comfy shorts for pos-op and am still shopping for the perfect robe for the hosp.

My prayers are with you as you wait for the results, but I think it's good you have already decided on the surgery, regardless of the results. At least that puts part of your mind at ease.

STILL WAITING on biopsy results.

Hello Amy - fellow N. Texan,

Boy, I know the frustration. I had my 2nd set of biopsies on the 11th. Dr told me to call back last Wed. I did, not ready and lab said they'd be ready Fri. Called first thing Friday, nurse called lab again and said they might not be ready today. That afternoon, I called the lab myself and the customer service person said the pathologist was looking at it right at that moment and would fax the results to my Dr. by end of day. I called back to my nurse and told her the news. She promised to keep an eye out. Of course end of day came and went, not even a phone call explaining that they never received the results. Of course the lab notified me that they couldn't give me the results, only my Dr. Of course I said, it wouldn't make sense to give me the results, since it's my body, life and my money that's paying for it!!! Arrghh!!!

I was so upset and frustrated that when I finally gave up on my Dr's office and went to take my daughter somewhere, I ran into her car backing out of the driveway. I was so out of it, it didn't even dawn on me what it was til my daughter screamed at me! There's a huge gash 1/2 way down the side of my new Yukon... And her fender is pretty banged up too.. Geez... it was such a long weekend.. I kept tearing up over everything. I was my husbands and grandsons birthday this weekend too, believe me, I wasn't much fun!

Just know you're not alone.. Hopefully we'll hear something today..

I gotta tell ya, at this point I don't care about the results so much as getting my surgery date. The Dr won't set it til the results are in. This is the 3rd set of tests I've had, one test spawns the need for another one... this better be it!

STILL WAITING on biopsy results.

Nancy,
You seem to have the right idea........short term goals DO seem more manageable!! I do have plenty of other things to focus on right now..............I have four boys that ALL play sports so I have very little idle time to sit and THINK about this!!! But when I DO get some "quiet time" (early in the morning when I first get to work, etc.) my mind just GOES.............
This site has been WONDERFUL..................as loving and caring as my dh is, he's never been in my shoes and can't possibly understand everything I'm feeling right now. After the biopsy on 4/12 I started spotting (dr. said I would) and I was due to start my period on 4/19. Well, the spotting lasted a few days and that just went right on into my regular period...........soooooooooo I've been bleeding for 9 straight days now and I'm crampy and cranky and I have SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much to do to get ready around the house before surgery but this weekend I barely FELT like doing any of it. Mind you, I am not a WIMP.........I've had 4 babies (big ones) 3 of which were natural childbirth. But this monster I get every 3rd week is getting the best of me!!!!!!! I just have to think positive and remember that this could very well be my last time!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for listening..............

STILL WAITING on biopsy results.

{{{{{{{{Sherry}}}}}}}}
I'm sorry you had such a rotten weekend.........I hope it helps somehow to know that there are others in the same "boat". I know it helps me tremendously to know that there are others that DO KNOW exactly how I feel. Oh my goodness........I never even thought of the prospect of doing MORE tests after this one. Poor thing......how much time has passed since your testing began???
Maybe today WILL be the day for both of us!!!

Hugs,
Amy

STILL WAITING on biopsy results.

It started off about 5 wks ago with an ultra sound, waited on results, they came back showing lg fibroids and a nabothian cyst on my cervix. Was waiting for 3 wks to see Dr. Did alot of research, found this site (a godsend!) and then realized that my decision was probably going to be a hyst too. I have 5 kids, mostly grown, but still 10 yrs from menopause. So I didn't feel like wasting time with other solutions. Anyway, once i realized that, I called my Dr back and asked to be referred to a gyn. I was actually able to get in to see her in a few days. When I saw her, the first thing she said after taking my history was "How partial are you to your uterus?" I cracked up! We both agreed on the hyst. Thank goodness. Then she did the pap and a endo biopsy. She wanted to do a colposcopy, but I was bleeding too much from the endo biopsy, so she said to come back next week, the other results would be in and we could plan from there.

Next week, came in and got the results. Endo biopsy was normal, pap was bad. Now I know that an abnormal pap isn't that bad. But in almost 30 yrs of having pap's, I've never had a bad one. So for this to show up now, is a little concerning. She did the colposcopy and found that I didn't have a cyst at all, but a uterine polyp poking out thru my cervix! So she did a biopsy on those and on the cervix. That's where we stand now, waiting again...

Ok, I can't stand it anywmore, I'm calling my Dr!

STILL WAITING on biopsy results.

Well.. I called and the Dr got on the phone.. it is cancer. She said something about squeamish cells and wanting me to see an oncologist. Ok, deep breath.. I'm waiting on call back from the oncologist and from my husband.. I feel pretty numb..

I hope I'm not scaring you.. you didn't have a polyp right? and a endo biopsy is prety routine procedure from what i know..

let me know what your dr says..
