Hi Ladypeewee

Yes, it works.
My nurse even heated mine up in the hospital. She was Italian and said that is what the women use over there after a hysterectomy.
I didn't need laxatives or prunes once I finally got things working again. But did use the stool softeners up until about 6 weeks post op.

prune juice helps with BMs

I'm 6 weeks post-op now and had to go back to using prune juice, I think because of a chronic intestinal problem that surgery aggravated. It sure is useful when you need it!

prune juice helps with BMs

Hi gals,

I got some prune juice before my surgery, but I never did open the bottle. I think I may give it a try to see what it does for me. I've had bowel problems since I started taking 600 mg. of iron daily, six months before my surgery. I thought they might improve now that I've been off of the iron for the five weeks since my surgery, but I guess instead now I'm having post-surgery adjustment problems.

I guess it can't hurt to try it. I haven't had it for years, but I do like prunes and I remember drinking it a couple of times with my grandmother, when I was little, and I think I liked it then.

Prune Juice story for you

Hi ladies, I am sat here cringing thinking about last Sunday. I thought I would keep the constipation in check and had 2 EEEKKK!!!! glasses of prune juice. I spent 3 whole hours and a lot of new positions on the loo, Dh kept bringing in water to drink so I wouldn't dehydrate. Sooo while prune juice really helps don't overdo it or you'll end up like I did. Just my luck!

Take care everyone,

Katygirl

If you get tired of drinking the prune juice, munch on some prunes and dried apricots throughout the day - they're pretty helpful, too, and chewy as well for those of us who munch throughout the day! :-)
